Nikon 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 Pro Reviews

photozone‘s review Edit

The 1 Nikkor VR 10-30mm delivers very good to excellent sharpness across most of the zoom range. Distortion is very visible at the wide end of the zoom range, but no issue at all for longer focal lengths. Vignetting is well controlled, except for the largest aperture setting at 10mm. However, the camera firmware already takes care of this issue when shooting JPGs. CAs are a bit on the high side, but easy to remove in post processing (if not already removed by the camera's automatic correction). One property not formally tested but visible in some of the sample images is the bokeh quality, which isn't exactly smooth. However, that's typical for many standard zoom lenses and due to the small sensor size of the Nikon 1 system the depth of field potential is very limited anyway. The build quality is on a high level for a consumer zoom lens. AF action is virtually silent and very fast. The only real issue we had with the lens was its sometimes disappointing VR behavior as it is mentioned on the first page of the review. So, in summary, the lens shows no serious weaknesses and delivers solid performance at an affordable price.
