TEAC MC-DX90i Review
Like UnlikeCreated by MusicFan on Dec 28, 2011
Sound quality is excellent considering 5 Watts per channel and flat panel speakers. Subwoofer is powerful and has a good kick to it. Have not yet tried with an iPOD.
Great for POP and Rock. Decent for classical music.
Main Unit
Like - Very compact, simple design and user friendly. Comes with two different removable cradle brackets for the iPOD. Has a yellow VGA video out for the iPOD.
Dislikes - No headphone plug. No foward/backward buttons for CD track navigation (can be done with remote).
AM/FM Tuner
Like - FM tuner sounds clear with included antenna. No noise when on an FM station with a strong signal.
Dislike - Some background hissing is heard on weaker stations.
Speakers
Like - Small footprint and excellent sound quality. Powerful for 5 Watts each.
Major Dislikes - Short (6 foot speaker wire) and proprietary plug make it impossible to extend the cable length without help from TEAC. So far, I can't locate any speaker accessories for this model on the TEAC website. Speaker separation could have been much better.
Subwoofer
Like - Small footprint and quick bass reflex.
Minor Dislike - Has it's own on/off switch separate from the power button on the main unit.
CD Player
Like - Wonderful sound quality and a motorized door instead of a tray. No skipping issues and no humming noises.
Minor Dislikes - CD loads without playing automatically. You have to hit the play button on the main unit or remote. Prefer slot loading CD but this works just fine.
Remote
Like - Very solid (metal) and compact. Menu button for the iPOD. Bass and Treble controls. Good all around functionality. Can set FM station presets.
