Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 45mm f1.8 Pro Reviews

photozone‘s review Edit

The Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 45mm f/1.8 is a highly desirable lens. The important center resolution is already on a very good level straight from wide open aperture and only the corners are somewhat softer here. The quality is very high across the image field when stopping down to f/4. Vignetting, lateral CAs as well as distortions are all well controlled and not relevant in field conditions. This applies to the non-corrected RAW files as well so the lens is not under-designed by any means. The quality of the bokeh is great and a real "highlight" of the lens. The build quality is very good although some may criticize the lack of "substance", but this is simply a compact lens and as such very light-weight at an incredible 116g. The Zuiko lens uses an Movie-Still-Compatible (MSC) AF for focusing and movie enthusiasts will appreciate the fast and silent operation. The Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 45mm f/1.8 is undoubtedly an great option in the micro-four-thirds system and it's even very affordable at around 300EUR/US$. Highly recommended!

ephotozine‘s review Edit

The low price may be a little misleading at first glance, as this lens is a very capable optic. It focuses quickly on the E-PM1 body used for testing and is capable of producing outstanding levels of sharpness. The light weight and good build quality are also assets. Those looking for a fast aperture prime lens for portraits, photography in low light, or for greater control over depth of field will not be disappointed.
