Tamron AF28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) Pro Reviews

slrgear‘s review Edit

However, we can say this: for the money, the lens has excellent optical qualities that rival at least one major (and much more expensive) lens in its category (the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8). The real question may be the longevity and fitness of the lens. Being made of mostly plastic, it will be a delight to carry for long stretches, but who knows how it might fair from a bit of knocking around. (In fairness, while a number of readers remarked on its plasticky feel, none reported reliability problems with it.) If you're a pro, you may already know you need a pro lens that can take it; if you're not as worried about where you may take it, then you may find yourself very pleasantly surprised by the performance of this lens, and pleased by the extra cash in your pocket.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

Even without taking the price into consideration, this lens is an impressive performer producing images with very good to excellent resolution throughout the range. The small size and light weight of this optic will also appeal to many, who would like the flexibility of an f/2.8 zoom, without the size, weight and price tag usually associated with such a lens.

The-Digital-Picture‘s review Edit

No lens is perfect, but the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di Lens delivers a lot for its price. The Tamron 28-75 would be a good general purpose zoom lens choice for 1.5x/1.6x FOVCF Digital SLR body owners unable to afford (or don't want the size/weight of) the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM Lens.

photozone‘s review Edit

The Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8 SP XR may shine with glory on APS-C DSLRs but it has found its master within the full format scope. The border resolution is generally soft at f/2.8 and you need stop down a bit in order to get a decent image quality across the frame. The lens produces very hefty vignetting figures at f/2.8 but the situation improves rapidly when stopping down a bit.
