Leica V-Lux 30 Pro Reviews

ephotozine‘s review Edit

The 16x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilisation is very useful, with a wide angle view and detail is good at both ends of the lens, producing very good images and videos. The camera is very easy to use and feels good with a solid design. Yes, the camera is much more expensive than the very similar Panasonic Lumix TZ-20, but you are getting an a camera with a superb name, it looks classy and you get the Adobe software and two-year warranty.

A decent compact with nice design, bundled with excellent software. Not the best value for money, though.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

Contentious pricing aside, the Leica V-LUX 30 is a very capable camera with a host of future proofing and manual control if pointing and shooting eventually numbs brain and senses. Whilst it may not be the cheapest nor sport the biggest lens, the Leica could be said to be conceivably the only travel zoom camera you may ever need - missing out only on being weatherproofed and shockproofed to truly make it a jack of all trades. In that context, the age of austerity bucking asking price begins to make just a little more sense.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The Leica V-Lux 30 isn’t the first compact from the manufacturer to simply look like a more expensive version of an existing Panasonic and one assumes nor will it be the last. The bare facts are that it is, however, a very well made camera that performs very well and in that sense, if you’re on the lookout for a travel zoom, the V-Lux 30 could well be the only travel zoom you may ever need. Bear that in mind and £550 begins to look less contentious, as does £80 for an optional (and likewise attractive) leather case with strap to keep it safe and snug. On this camera it’s all about the little details rather than just the bigger picture.
