HTC Windows Phone Mango devices landing September 1

HTC is hitting London next week to show off future devices and Windows Phone will be top of the agenda, according to BGR. It claims to have heard from a little birdie within HTC headquarters that two Windows Phone Mango devices will make their debut on September 1.
Sadly there’s not a lot of new details to feast on. The source simply says the HTC Eternity (which was leaked last month) will have a 3.7in screen while the HTC Omega (which also popped up in July) will sport a 4.5in display.

I don’t know how many developers webOS claimed, but that number is likely at least 1000 smaller, with more than 1000 webOS developers responding to Brandon Watson’s call for them to take up Windows Phone 7 development following HP’s assassination of webOS.
The call had been widely covered in the media, and is even pulling in developers from other platforms, including Android and Symbian.

Microsoft: Windows Phone Mango Is Done, Manufacturers Just Need To Release It

Well, this is something new. Here in the tech world, we hear about delay after delay — but very rarely does a company step out and say: “Hey! We’re ahead of schedule!”
Today, Microsoft was that company, and the product was Windows Phone 7 Mango.
Peter Wissinger, Microsoft’s director of Mobile Business in the Nordic countries, today released an official statement on Mango’s status:
“Now it’s up to our manufacturing partners to release Mango to our customers. Microsoft has delivered complete Mango earlier than planned to the manufacturers. Feels good now.”

With launch of Mango Marketplace NoDo apps will be frozen

Microsoft has posted a blog post detailing what effect the roll-out of new Mango apps, which have features which are not compatible with Windows phone 7 NoDo, will have on Marketplace.
It appears once a developer updates an app for Mango, the NoDo version of their app will be held in frozen, available for users who are still on NoDo, but with the developer no longer being able to provide updates for that version of the app.
Only one entry will exist in Marketplace, which will need to be shared by both the NoDo and Mango version. Microsoft expects developers to provide detailed descriptions and screen shots specifying which features are Mango only. Even screen shots will have to be shared, w...

Let's face it, waiting for official releases is awful. We're constantly getting news, images and teasers on everything that's on the horizon, but the actual release date for this stuff is always farther away than we would like. We've been seeing info coming out for Windows Phone Mango for quite a while now, and just when we thought we might see the update pushed out early, it turns out September 1st is just a rumor, so we still don't know when the official update will roll out. Luckily for everyone, the dev community over at XDA loves to get their hands on things early and send it our way.

The Mango update to WP7, with its 500+ new features, is now supposed to land on September 1st, which means that we'll probably see the new handsets that will be rocking it in greater detail then. Apple's iOS 5 update will most likely be available in September too, and Google's Android Ice Cream Sandwich is allegedly pulled to October, in order to fight the competition sooner than planned.

Windows Phone 7 data hog bug back with Mango?

Soon after the US launch of Windows Phone 7 users were discovering their phones transferring hundreds of megabytes of data each day. It turned out to be a Yahoo Mail bug affecting many other smartphones.
Now Kishan writes us with an interesting question:
My wp7 phone after mango beta 2 is sending lot of data on 3G – here is a sample – 400Mb on 08/06, 256Mb on 08/05 etc.. I have Yahoo mail sync\’ed, so could be the old yahoo mail bug. Testing currently to see if I still see the issue after disabling Yahoo mail. Do you know if anyone else is seeing the same issue?

The winners in the Microsoft-sponsored Imagine Cup contest this year will receive Windows Phone Mango handsets in September, as we learn from the competition's Twitter account.
That probably means that by fall availability Microsoft means early fall, which is good news for current and future owners of WP7 handsets. We wold bet on future owners who get the handsets around that time, however - current owners might have to wait more, as usually happens with these updates, but let's not put the cart before the horse.

We have received an anonymous tip that HTML5 streaming now works on Windows Phone 7 Mango using IE9 and Pandora’s new HTML5 website.
Because Pandora how not rolled out their new site to everyone yet we have not been able to confirm it ourselves yet.

iOS5 faster than Mango at HTML5 rendering? Wrong!

Winrumors have claimed that the latest version of iOS5 has overtaken Windows Phone 7 Mango in the HTML5 speed rendering stakes, going from 1-2 fps to 32 fps, faster than the 25 fps demonstrated for Mango at MIX11.
What Tom has not taken into account was that Mango has continued to improve itself, and in testing done by The Next Web Windows Phone 7 repeatedly hit 41 FPS, and this is of course with a Snapdragon processor generations older than that in the iPhone 4.
