Overall, the f/3.5 maximum aperture is probably not worth having, but given that the lens is so competitively priced there is no point in turning down this additional feature. It is also worth noting that chromatic aberrations, although visible in test-chart images, were particularly low in real-world images captured using this lens.

All in all, this is a lens of remarkable quality, a real boon to shooters needing true wide angle capability on their d-SLRs with APS-C size sensors.

Niggles aside, Canon's EF-S 10-22mm is a high-quality optic, capable of producing images with excellent resolution right from the maximum aperture. For this alone, it may be worth the premium for many.
