Sigma DP2x Pro Reviews

www.whatdigitalcamera.com‘s review Edit

The Sigma DP2X has a lot of holes in its specification and improves very little on the DP2s with regards to a feature set and specification, but if you're an enthusiast and you're willing to make sacrifices for great image quality, the DP2X could well be an advanced compact for you.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

TheDP2x is sure to polarise opinion: the same features which will put off the vast majority are the self-same features which will make others fall in love with it. However, while true fans will put up with its generally slow response, small 2.5 inch screen, weak built-in flash and almost pointless movie mode there’s no denying that there’s considerable room for improvement.

PC Pro‘s review Edit

With little changed compared to its predecessor, Sigma's luxury compact is looking increasingly behind the times.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

The speed of the DP2x has been improved thanks to the improved AF algorithim, but don't expect a quantum leap in performance from the previous DP2. The DP2x is still not well-suited to quick moving subjects, with a slower and more considered approach required to get the best from it. The full retail price of £619 / $699 is an awful lot to pay for a compact camera, with the DP2x costing the same as a mid-range DSLR camera with kit lens or a comparably-sized compact system camera. So although the Sigma DP2x improves on the previous generation, there are now far too many more verastile and simply better alternatives to recommend it more strongly.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

The Sigma DP2x is a quirky camera that becomes a pleasure to use once we have familiarised ourselves. It still needs further development in terms of speed and image quality, particularly in relation to its relatively poor JPEGs and its tendency to a magenta cast. It is pocketable and operationally effective. More work on some of the details would be most helpful and make for an attractive package.
