Ricoh CX5 Pro Reviews

www.whatdigitalcamera.com‘s review Edit

The Ricoh CX5 is a worthy addition to the CX series, and remains strong in the core areas in which is the CX series is known to excel. However, it suffers from the same failings as previous models have, and still doesn't feature Raw capture or full manual shooting controls. Overall, once again the CX series is just a few small tweaks away from being a great advanced compact.

ITreviews‘s review Edit

Ricoh has justified the CX5 because of its undoubtedly improved AF speed and the less convincing super-resolution zoom feature. For those on the hunt for a multi-purpose, good quality camera, it's decent if unexceptional - if you already own the CX3 or CX4, there's still not enough innovation to warrant the upgrade.

The Ricoh CX5 is another update to the CX series, and while the camera may not be enough of an improvement if you already have a previous version, it does offer impressive performance, and a wealth of features that make it very appealing for someone new to Ricoh. If you want more from a compact camera, then it's quite likely that the Ricoh CX5 features what you want and more.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

The CX5 is virtually indistinguishable from the slightly older CX4 in terms of its design, image quality and feature set, with only the faster AF system to get truly excited about. As with the CX4, while the CX5 remains a good point and shoot camera and the price has commendably been reduced to £259 / $399, it simply doesn't offer enough to either justify the upgrade from the previous generation or to keep up with its main rivals. Recommended, but there are quite a few better options to consider...

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

With good build quality, well laid out (and sturdy-feeling) buttons and controls, as well as a capability to capture very good image quality, the Ricoh CX5 continues our love affair with Ricoh cameras. It's not a perfect camera, and some of its features could be improved (such as the tracking focus), but we feel it's a great compact for anyone who wants a big zoom, excellent macro capability and reasonably clear and vibrant photo quality.
