Samsung Infuse 4G Pro Reviews

Steve's Digicams‘s review Edit

The Infuse 4G is a great fit for someone who wants an ultra-thin camera phone with a vivid, sharp display. Sharing photos is easy with the included apps, and the camera is generally quick to perform, but a weak flash, less-than-stellar image quality and digital-only zoom limit its appeal for serious shooting.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

From the moment Samsung opted to throw a 4.5" screen on the Infuse 4G, it was destined to be a niche phone. If you've got huge hands or just feel cramped on your normal-sized phone, the Infuse's size won't disappoint. But that's also the first dividing line - we handed the phone off to multiple people who said it was way too large for them. Ultimately, it's just doesn't have fast enough bandwidth or the build quality required to swing us from our Galaxy preferences. But if you're a huge fan of huge phones, the Samsung Infuse 4G is clearly a winner, and we're certainly not complaining about having another size to choose from.

pocketnow‘s review Edit

Overall, we were very impressed with the Infuse 4G, thanks to a great balance of good battery life, snappy performance, a great screen, and solid imaging. The huge screen is great for watching videos, recording videos, taking and looking at pictures, and of course playing games. Other applications and interface elements feel a little too large, but then again that could be just because we're used to screens that aren't quite as big. The extra large screen also makes one-handed usability a bit of a chore. You have to scoot the device up or down in order to be able to reach either the notifications tray or the lower hardware buttons. If you're more of the two-handed user, then that's less of an issue. There are a lot of people looking for large screened smartphones these days though, so if you're one of them, the Samsung Infuse 4G is probably what you're looking for.

TheVerge‘s review Edit

The Infuse is somewhat of a mixed bag. It’s a gorgeous phone, but it feels a bit cheap in some respects. Its screen is large and the quality of the Super AMOLED Plus display is top notch, but its lower resolution leaves more to be desired. And while it has a “4G” in its moniker, it’s truly not a very fast phone in terms of data speeds. There’s a lot to like with the Infuse — I really love the camera, screen quality, and endurance — but in the end, it just isn’t a colossal hit like the Galaxy S II or the Motorola Atrix. It is, however, a colossal sized phone with some standout features.

ubergizmo‘s review Edit

The Samsung Infuse 4G is a good phone. I really liked the comfort and image-quality of its huge display, and the good battery life. The industrial design is clean, and the phone is even lighter than smaller phones like the iPhone 4. All those qualities are big advantages for most Android users in search for a comfortably big display. On the downside, I think that, at times, the responsiveness of the phone did get to me. I’m used to more responsive phones, and to be honest, I’m not really sure how other people would react to it. It’s probably best to try it for yourself in a store, but keep in mind that in-store phones don’t have many apps installed, so they to represent the “best case” scenario. In the end, it’s likely that prospect users will be mainly attracted by the display size which is the truly unique feature of this phone.

With what I can only say is the best screen I've seen on any smartphone, combined with truly exceptional battery life, and plenty of room to grow, make the Infuse a very solid contender worth the attention of anyone looking for a high end smartphone.

With so few drawbacks, it's hard not to recommend the Samsung Infuse 4G. It's an all-around solid device that rarely disappoints.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

As it seems the Samsung I997 Infuse 4G has pretty good chance of completing its mission. It will ensure that those who want a new smartphone right now get plenty of bragging rights for a while and will still leave them with the largest Super AMOLED Plus display in the world when it imminently gets outdone by the AT&T version of the Galaxy S II and perhaps even the iPhone 5 or 4s in a few months.

Macworld‘s review Edit

The Samsung Infuse is a great device for media consumption, provided you can get over the text- and image-rendering issues. Reading pixilated text on that otherwise gorgeous 4.5-inch display is just a tad heartbreaking, to say the least. But if you are someone who is likes to watch movies on the go, then this is the phone for you.

Gizmodo‘s review Edit

Super AMOLED Plus is perhaps better than any phone screen technology out there except the retina display, even with its 800x480 pixels stretched across the wider canvass. Colors are super rich, blacks are inky, and it's usable enough in sunlight. It's fairly quick. And this is one of the better phone cameras I've seen in a while, with solid 8MP stills and pretty okay 720p video.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

The Infuse 4G isn’t short on contradictions. Its 4G moniker promises speeds AT&T’s HSPA+ can’t quite deliver, and while we’re used to big-screen phones packing all-round flagship specs, its single-core processor lags behind our current Android favorite, the Galaxy S II. However, it does manage solid battery life and there’s no denying the appeal of that amazing Super AMOLED Plus display.

Digital Trends‘s review Edit

At $199.99 the Samsung Infuse 4G is a great phone at a reasonable price. While its large size will turn some off, we generally enjoy having a bit more screen space to type and browse on. The hardware isn’t up to the dual-core standards of some flagship phones, nor does AT&T’s network support 4G speeds that are anywhere near as fast as Verizon, but the Infuse is pretty snappy, and didn’t hiccup on us too often. We’re not huge fans of the completely plastic shell of most Samsung phones, but the light weight and extremely thin profile help justify the lack of metal, to a degree. Overall, if you’re looking for a good Android phone with a big screen, this may be your guy.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Samsung Infuse 4G is one honking Android phone and a good choice for AT&T subscribers, but you'll still need a different carrier if you want real 4G speeds.

The Samsung Infuse 4G disappoints in some areas, but it's still a very good Android smartphone for AT&T customers as long as you're OK with the larger design.

LAPTOP Magazine‘s review Edit

The Samsung Infuse 4G has plenty to offer--a sleek design, a good camera, and a big and vibrant screen. However, even though this device is thin and light for a 4.5-inch smartphone, using it one-handed can feel awkward because of the large footprint. What's more, having extra real estate makes waiting for content to load over AT&T's network all the more agonizing. For Android fans, we prefer the Motorola Atrix 4G on AT&T, which sports a more powerful Tegra 2 processor and a smaller but higher-resolution display. And if you're not wedded to Ma Bell, consider the T-Mobile G2x, which offers real 4G speeds plus dual-core power. Still, if you truly believe bigger is better, the Infuse 4G is definitely worth a look. It's 10 times better than the original Dell Streak.

MobileBurn‘s review Edit

The Samsung Infuse 4G might scare off potential buyers with its imposing screen, but thanks to the thin size and light weight, it turns out to be fairly easy to live with. It offers a fast user experience, great battery life, an awesome camera, and solid build quality. I really enjoyed using the Infuse during my review period, and that is something that I haven't felt about a Samsung Android phone with TouchWiz before. Some might lament the omission of a dual-core processor and Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but those factors did not hold the Infuse back from performing like a star.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

After being encompassed with jubilation upon first handling the device, it eventually subsided as we began to really figure out the ins and outs of its offerings. Yeah, its $200 on-contract price is more than fitting, and equally contends with its rivals in this area, but there’s just this nagging feeling knowing the that it’s not quite on the same level as some of its next-gen peers; specifically the Samsung Galaxy S II. However, it still packs a punch with its impressive razor thin construction and larger than normal Super AMOLED Plus display – making them its standout characteristics. Oppositely though, we’re rather saddened to see that its highly touted 4G speeds are still nowhere close to what we see put out by some of T-Mobile’s devices. Nevertheless, the platform experience is still solid, despite not having Gingerbread from the onset, but hopefully it receives its dose sooner than later to keep it in favorable light amongst consumers.
