That being said, we got on well with the Fujifilm FinePix S3200. Switch on time is fast but could be faster without the Fujifilm screen at the start. Focusing is pretty fast and the metering is accurate. It's a digital compact camera sensor, so the dynamic range is limited but we didn't get any burn out in highlights. If you're in the market for this type of camera, they're available for around £150 which is a pretty decent price for the amount of zoom and manual controls.

Superzoom cameras are never without compromise, and it’s the FinePix S3200’s low quality LCD, and over-processed images that hold it back. However the camera does still deliver plenty considering its low price point (around £165-220). A huge zoom range, variety of autofocus modes, built-in viewfinder and array of manual controls put plenty of features at your fingertips.

The Fujifilm FinePix S3200 packs a huge amount of camera, into quite a large package, but makes up for this with an excellent entry level price. Whilst it may not be as fast as backlit-CMOS sensor based cameras, and noise levels suffer as a result, the S3200 with built in anti-shake makes an appealing camera if price is a concern. The biggest drawback is the camera's image quality with images showing high levels of barrel distortion (at wide angle), and pincushion (at telephoto), as well as overly sharpened images, this gives white edges around objects where there shouldn't be white edges. Video is decent, although focusing at the telephoto end can be an issue. Macro performance is reasonably good, although using super macro locks the camera at the wide-angle position. Handling is very good with rubberised grips for both hands.
