It is one thing for everyone to proclaim that the Samsung Galaxy S II is the hottest smartphone around the globe. It is another to actually have the stats that back it up. According to Samsung, 3 million units of the Galaxy S II have been sold in just 55 days making it the fastest selling phone in Samsung's illustrious history. That beat out the 85 days that it took the original version of the handset to ring up 3 million in sales. At the current rate, a new Samsung Galaxy S II finds an owner every 1.5 seconds. In the U.K., Samsung has been the top selling handset manufacturer for 17 straight weeks.
As amazing as that sounds, we have to take into consideration that the device is not yet avai...

Skype 2 video chat unofficially enabled on the Galaxy S II, Sensation, and others
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungHTCGalaxy S IISensation 4G
The latest Skype update for Android is available to everyone, but it only enables video chat on four specific handsets. Fortunately, impatient modders have gone some way to correcting this profound injustice, by creating APKs that activate video calling on other handsets too. So far we've heard of successful ports on the Samsung Galaxy S II and the HTC Sensation, Thunderbolt and EVO 4G. If you've got some other handset with Android 2.3, a little experimentation with the APK might also be worth your while. However, we just tried it on an Xperia Arc and didn't get very far: the app ran, but efforts to communicate with an Xperia Neo resulted in one-way video, a locked landscape mode and plenty ...

Samsung Galaxy S II Launching Into Space on July 15th
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGalaxy S II
Most phones don’t get the chance to say they’ve been outside our atmosphere, but the Samsung Galaxy S II isn’t most phones. Samsung’s latest super phone is taking a very special trip outside our layer of the atmosphere and chilling out 98,000 feet above sea level in the layer called the stratosphere. This trip is a special promotional stunt by Samsung and will take place July 14th. This same stunt was performed with the Nexus S, and it’s meant to show how strong these phones are.
This whole thing happens with the help of a specially made weather balloon that has been made to reach that height. Samsung has tested this weather balloon many times, so it’s good to know that they do this before l...
