WD TV Live Hub Pro Reviews

reghardware‘s review Edit

The poor documentation and dodgy firmware are only minor blemishes on an otherwise efficient and attractive media player. The AppleTV might still hold the award for best interface, but the Live Hub’s support for a wider range of file formats makes it much more versatile than the Mac maker’s media machine. Some people might prefer to stick with the cheaper diskless model, but the WD TV Live Hub still gets my vote as the most front-room-friendly media player currently available.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

The WD TV Live Hub isn't just the best media player in Western Digital's lineup, it's arguably the set-top box to beat out of the entire field. There's not much the Hub can't do, whether you're trying to tap into your movies and videos shuffled all over your home network and beam them to your living room with little fuss, or login into Facebook and post a spoiler on that streaming Netflix video you just watched.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

On paper the WD TV Live Hub appears to be the complete opposite of the new Apple TV and so it proves - both in good ways and bad. The good are fundamental deal makers: comprehensive codec support (if no more extensive than previous WD TVs), extended functionality via the media server, USB keyboard support and http controls which could provide invaluable for third party apps.

The Live Hub combines streaming and network storage in one device. If you just have laptops in your home, and no desktop PC, then it would be a decent repository for all your media files, making them both available to view on your TV and still accessible from your roving laptops. In the end it’s the slick menu system, relatively large hard disk, breadth of features and stylish hardware that make this our ultimate media streamer – and all at a surprisingly reasonable price.

The Western Digital WD TV Live Hub plays almost every kind of multimedia file available and acts as a network attached storage device as well as media server to anyone on your local network. This media player is by far the best Western Digital has produced and we consider this the best player on the market today.
