When you've been reviewing motherboard after motherboard as we have, one approaches a highly gimmicky motherboard with a jaded outlook. Take the ASUS P5K3 Premium Black Pearl Edition for example. As good as the board was (and it was an excellent board), there was a rather large downside to its onboard memory design since you can never change your memory ever again. The ASUS Blitz Formula however, didn't just stir our enthusiasm, it exceeded all our expectations. Innovative engineering, exceptional performance, excellent overclocking, solid stability and a great bundle to top everything off, there just isn't enough adjectives to describe the Blitz Formula.

The Asus Blitz Formula truly is a magnificent motherboard specimen; by offering up a great set of features on a P35 motherboard and designing it for high speed overclocking Asus has set a high bar for all Intel-platform offerings to strive for. Some of the unique features like the optional watercooled north bridge heatpipe, Crosslinx multi-GPU improvements and the included copy of STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl really add to the overall package of this most recent Republic of Gamers motherboard.

We're also giving the DDR2-enabled Blitz Formula an Editor's Choice award for many of the same reasons - it's just as fast or faster in most cases, it's also very overclockable, and it proved to be very stable as well - but we also like it becuase it offers an easier upgrade path to those of you who already own DDR2 RAM and are looking to ditch a P965 or 975X-based motherboard in favor of the newer P35, which will officially support future 45nm Intel processors.
