RIM BlackBerry Bold 9780 Pro Reviews

AnandTech‘s review Edit

As a device in itself, the Bold is pretty good if completely indistinct. There is nothing that stands out in particular, but it gets the job done well enough. While nothing revolutionary has happened on the hardware front just yet, it is good to see that RIM is in fact working in the background trying to tighten up the BlackBerry OS internals. To that effect the BlackBerry Bold 9780 is probably the best BlackBerry you can buy today, by far. The question here is, unless you have no other choice, should you actually buy a BlackBerry over other smartphones currently available…Bold or otherwise? If you're a BlackBerry diehard or have one from your work, that answer will come from their IT department. We've seen some improvements with OS 6 and the Torch, with minor improvements from the Bold, but we'd like to see RIM do more with their next outing.

With touchscreens all the rage, the RIM BlackBerry Bold 9780 might seem like a bit of a throwback. But its superb keyboard, good battery life stand it in good stead - and the revamped operating system gives it a new lease of life.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 is a pretty solid RIM device. Just like the Bold 9700 before it, the 9780 gives you excellent build quality, smooth performance and the corporate grade email and data security. If this is the kind of phone you are looking for, you might as well stop reading right here. However, if the security levels of the Blackberry Enterprise server aren’t a must, there are probably better options for you. The 5 megapixel camera and the OS 6 are worthy upgrades but they still fail to give the Bold 9780 enough of an edge against the competition. BlackBerry phones have some advantages but bang-for-buck is just not one of them.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

For current BlackBerry users who aren't interested in a touchscreen device, the BlackBerry Bold 9780 comes highly recommended: it possesses a great keyboard, best-in-class email capabilities and a refreshing new interface. However, it offers little incentive for others to switch to the BlackBerry platform.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

BlackBerry still seems to be finding its way in this ever consumer-centric, touchscreen-dominated smartphone world, with its latest touchscreen option, the Torch, getting a mediocre response and the company recently slipping out of the top five smartphone manufacturers worldwide. However, if you're still a fan of the classic BlackBerry design then the company still has you well covered with its latest model the Bold 9780.

RIM takes the Bold and makes it even better, but there isn’t much on offer for upgraders.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 is a worthy upgrade to RIM's flagship range. The new operating system is a significant improvement, making the phone more relevant to the wider market than anything that's come before. While we're still not too sure about the size of the keyboard, there's no denying that this does what BlackBerry does best – integrated messaging – and then some. It's a far better internet and media experience than ever before, and social networking addicts are well taken care of, too.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The inclusion of more RAM and a new operating system brings a device that runs faster and smoother than previously, but feels as though it is already slightly out of date, especially when you start examining the multimedia offering.
