Pentax K200D Pro Reviews

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

At first glance the Pentax K200D simply looks like an incremental upgrade of the K100D Super, with relatively few additions on offer apart from the 10 megapixel resolution (up from 6 megapixels) and a couple of new buttons. Thankfully Pentax have also made a substantial number of improvements under the hood that help improve on what was already an excellent camera, borrowing both the sensor and other features from the K10D.

The Imaging Resource‘s review Edit

The Pentax K200D is a capable digital SLR, a very good choice for consumers who are starting to chafe against the limitations of a point-and-shoot digital camera and want to work with a more advanced camera. I'm calling it a bridge camera, as it has plenty of functions built-in that will be familiar to point-and-shoot digicam users, but also maintains the advanced modes and features of regular SLR cameras.

Camera Labs‘s review Edit

The K200D’s strengths and weaknesses against the competition are pretty consistent from the comparisons above. For the same money or a little less you could buy a lighter DSLR with Live View facilities and either a flip-out screen or faster continuous shooting. Or you could ignore the gadgetry, go for the K200D and enjoy superior build quality with weatherproofing along with a few fairly unique features like a top info screen, RAW button and AA battery power.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

The handling of the K200D is very simple yet it maintains a reassuring, more professional build quality. Images are sure to please even the most critical photographer, with few serious problems bar slight underexposure on rare occaisions. There are plenty of features to keep beginners and advanced users happy, with the only major disappointment coming from the drive speed.

Steve's Digicams‘s review Edit

K200D is a very nice entry-level dSLR. The new 10.2-megapixel CCD image sensor, combined with a lot of modern technology creates a wonderful camera for the price. The in-body Shake Reduction capability and improved Dust Reduction system show that PENTAX is serious about providing a great camera for the beginner. I might have liked to see a Live View function but would the novice photographer miss it?

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

It's an unquestionably solid camera, and I generally found its straight-from-camera images rich, vibrant, and (with the right settings) smooth – all the reasons we buy DSLRs. Visually and functionally, the camera is a bit vanilla; given the really sharp, intuitive interfaces on some of its competitors, the Pentax may be a bit of hard sell for newbies who heavily bias look and feel in making purchasing decisions.

DP Review‘s review Edit

The Pentax K200D is competing in a very crowded segment of the marketplace. All manufacturers have been increasing the number of features and the quality of their cameras over the past couple of years or so and the entry-level segment is characterized by fierce competition. So, was the step that Pentax made from the K100D to the K200D enough to stay a serious alternative to the big boys in this bracket of the market?

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

Pentax's K200D entry-level SLR gives a lot of bang for the buck and has better performance than last year's model. Despite low noise and pleasingly detailed images, technically inaccurate colors keep it from capturing the gold medal for image quality.
