Razer BlackWidow Pro Reviews

bjorn3d‘s review Edit

After rigorous testing and assessment of the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition the keyboard did not disappoint even in the slightest. Overall this mechanical keyboard is solid and well-designed specifically for gaming. Instant response and low actuation allows the keys to be pressed rapidly without much effort. To complement that fact, there is a complex system of macros allowing for the user to transform any key into a series of precisely timed key entries down to milliseconds. While it might not seem important to some, the ability to press a single key in order to initiate a combo carries its own advantages.

www.pcper.com‘s review Edit

Compared to other mechanical keyboards it does not perform to the true potential of what mechanical keyboards can do. Without backlighting it is very cheap for a good but not great mechanical keyboard; with backlighting it can be quite expensive but distinguishing. If you are thrifty and find it on sale the Ultimate could be neck and neck with the recently expanded product line of the Rosewill RK-9000 which is not a clear choice to make: if you want the choice between four different Cherry MX switches or you want a more precise mechanical keyboard the Rosewill will not disappoint; if you want Razer’s keycaps or you deem backlighting a necessary feature than you should check out the BlackWidow Ultimate.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

If you are an enthusiast and loathe the soft-press of the membrane key switch found in the inexpensive keyboards that form a part of the configuration of most PCs today, then read further to know whether the Blackwidow Ultimate is the right choice for you.

bit-tech‘s review Edit

Even by Razer’s own standards, the BlackWidow Ultimate misses several tricks. There’s no choice of backlight colour, unlike the Anansi. Plus, while the Cherry keys have a clean action, the coating feels uncomfortable, and the clunk-click of the keys is very loud. The decision to place Shift symbols under the main key symbols is also a needlessly confusing break from convention. The BlackWidow Ultimate simply doesn’t have nearly enough to make it worth £110.

Because even though I loved the X6 when it came out (and it still is a wonderful keyboard), the typing experience on the Blackwidow is kickass. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that I love it.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Razer Black Widow Ultimate keyboard provides users with a light and springy typing experience, but personal taste may set in when considering the clicky keys.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

At $125, the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate is a competitively priced mechanical gaming keyboard in its range. We just wish Razer had done more to set this "Ultimate" edition apart from Razer's more affordable standard BlackWidow.

CrunchGear‘s review Edit

As I wrote this, I felt more and more that this particular keyboard is a “don’t buy” at the moment. There are too many other good keyboards on the market, and even if you were to opt for the significantly lower-priced basic Black Widow (no backlight, no ports), I still don’t feel you’re getting their best. I still prefer the aging but sleek Lycosa over this, and the 7G is both more tastefully designed and better laid out. It’s not a bad keyboard, but in the face of truly excellent competition, I just can’t recommend the BlackWidow.

The functionally of the BlackWidow with all of its included drivers provides a wonderful experience that can easily be changed based on your needs. The Razer BlackWidow has converted me, from this point forward I will do my best to always use a mechanical keyboard because of the comfort they bring when it comes time to actually type and do the work that I need to get done.
