Sony SAL-70300 Pro Reviews

www.whatdigitalcamera.com‘s review Edit

Sony's tactic of treating its lenses and cameras as co-dependent components means it's hard to evaluate this zoom in isolation. Its lack of viewfinder stabilisation is a minus point but its focus lock is useful and its build quality is very solid. Ultimately, though, it looks very costly against, say, Nikon's latest 70-300mm, which is better specified and is about half the Sony's price.

photozone‘s review Edit

The build quality of the lens is very good and a step above than the mainstream. Thanks to the new SSM ("Supersonic Motor") AF operations are very silent although it doesn't transform the lens into an AF speed demon. If anything the Sony 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 SSM G has one problem - its price tag. However, regarding its very high build quality and the optical performance it's actually a sound offer.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

I can't help but have mixed feelings about this lens. It's built superbly, is fast focusing and has great control of falloff, distortion and flare. At shorter focal lengths it also performs very well, but to get good results at 300mm, the lens needs stopping down.
