Clarion ClarionMiND NR1U Pro Reviews

ubergizmo‘s review Edit

Our friends from OhGizmo took the time to review the Clarion MiND, a mobile internet device (MID) that is equipped with a GPS receiver. Because it is a mini computer, the Clarion MiND can take on many roles such as GPS nav, portable media player, web browser and so on. Unfortunately, you dreams of convergence won't be fulfilled with this gadget. There are practical reasons: it costs $650 and requires a 3G subscription if you want always-on (slow) connectivity. The bottom-line? we're not there yet. Movie in the full post.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The Clarion MiND as shipped is a pretty good GPS device that gets even better if you can connect it to the internet while driving using a Bluetooth phone and a network that supports tethering. But as a ultramobile PC, the Clarion MiND is just so-so. We can't help thinking that many of its functions (most notably email) can be handled adequately or better by the data-capable phone you'd use for tethering.

LAPTOP Magazine‘s review Edit

Clarion’s affordable mobile Internet device puts GPS, multimedia, and the Web in the palm of your hand, but we wish it offered longer battery life.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

The lack of a dedicated data connection and poor integration between its applications keeps the ClarionMind from fulfilling the potential that its hardware possesses.
