Sony SAL-1118 Pro Reviews

www.whatdigitalcamera.com‘s review Edit

Given that several niggles have been raised it might be tempting to dismiss Sony's 11-18mm zoom as a rather mediocre lens, but in fact it put in a solid overall performance that simply failed to be outstanding in any way. This zoom's greatest appeal doubtless resides in its attractive price and in that sense it probably offers Sony users the ideal combination of specifications, performance and price.

slrgear‘s review Edit

The Sony 11-18mm ƒ/4.5-5.6 is respectably sharp in the central region of the frame, even when used wide open, but its design produces corner softness and barrel distortion. Chromatic aberration is quite high, even for a wide-angle lens, and its lack of a modern autofocus motor makes it somewhat slow to focus, and noisy. But for the brand-loyal, the 11-18mm ƒ/4.5-5.6 offers pleasing wide-angle performance.

Camera Labs‘s review Edit

The Sony DT 11-18mm delivers an ultra wide angle range which perfectly complements the standard DT 18-70mm kit lens. It essentially takes over where the kit lens stops, capturing a progressively wider field of view until you find yourself at 11mm and enjoying 104 degree coverage.
