Canon EOS Rebel XSi Pro Reviews

The Imaging Resource‘s review Edit

The Rebel XSi has just about everything you want from a semi-pro camera in a smaller package. It's small, lighter than its predecessor, and has all the good stuff the competitors have, plus that legendary Canon image quality. Canon made minor but important improvements to the grip and controls, and kept all that was great about its predecessor. Adding Live View and image stabilization addressed a few elements that other companies, namely Olympus and Pentax, have had in their favor at the low-price end of the market.

The-Digital-Picture‘s review Edit

The number of people moving up to digital SLR cameras has been amazing - but so are the images these cameras can deliver. Even compared to the not-very-old Canon Rebel XTi / 400D, the Canon EOS Rebel XSi / 450D delivers better image quality from a more attractive body with more features ... I'm very pleased (actually somewhat surprised) with the improvements delivered by the Canon EOS Rebel XSi / 450D. It will be a worthwhile upgrade for many XTi / 400D owners - it is a lot of camera for the money.

LetsGoDigital‘s review Edit

I am really satisfied with the camera. It is a perfect camera for everybody. If you are just starting with (digital) photography or if you are a bit more experienced, and whether or not you switch from a compact camera, the Canon 450D enables you to take excellent pictures. Moreover, it comes at an extremely affordable price.

PC World‘s review Edit

The Rebel Xsi provides a strong range of capabilities, but it may cost more money than entry-level buyers want to spend

Camera Labs‘s review Edit

The Canon EOS 450D / Rebel XSi is a powerful DSLR for the money and a worthy successor to the best-selling EOS 400D / XTi. Canon has sensibly followed Nikon’s winning strategy for the D80 and instead of aiming at the lowest price-point, has gone for a more upmarket model with a design and feature-set that will appeal to those who may still be budget-conscious, but see the value of something a little bit classier.

Steve's Digicams‘s review Edit

The last Canon Rebel we reviewed was the XTi back in 2006. Now we have a brand new Rebel XSi and it's a beauty. The list of improvements over earlier models is impressive and include a 12.2-megapixel image sensor, Live View capability, 3.5 fps continuous shooting, the EOS Integrated Cleaning System, 3.0" LCD, the DIGIC III Image Processor and a longer lasting battery. The Rebel XSi is available in black or silver body colors and entry-level dSRL photographers have never had it so good.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

It doesn't stand out for its feature set or design, but the Canon EOS Rebel XSi delivers on performance and photo quality.

DP Review‘s review Edit

Four and a half years have passed since the first affordable digital SLR from Canon; the EOS 300D (Digital Rebel). In that time we have witnessed two further iterations (the EOS 350D and EOS 400D) leading up to today's fourth generation EOS 450D, with twice the megapixel count of the original (twelve versus six) in a smaller body with a far wider range of functionality and features and a $200 lower list price.
