Flip SlideHD Pro Reviews

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

There's no doubt the SlideHD is a cool gadget with a fun and innovative design, and FlipShare is a great piece of software that complements the device nicely. In terms of video quality and operation, the SlideHD is not much different from the UltraHD and MinoHD, which might please Flip fans, but leaves me wanting more, especially considering its $280 launch price.

Engadget‘s review Edit

There's the issue of the Slide's $279 pricetag. We're sure that number will come down over time, but let's be blunt: you can buy a much, much better camera for this kind of money. We're talking better lenses, better sensors, better video, and more features all around.

MacNN‘s review Edit

Cisco's real concern should be the future of the line. The Slide HD is acceptable now, but it's a conservative update in a field that's moving fast. Simplicity goes a long way, but so do higher quality lenses and higher resolution output. If you already own an HD-capable Flip, it may be best to wait until a truly large upgrade.

Macworld‘s review Edit

The Flip SlideHD is a frustrating example of designer allowing a trendy but flawed interface to get in the way of an otherwise superb product. It's the best pocket camcorder available for sharing your clips in person with others, and its video quality is on a par with the best pocket camcorders.

LAPTOP Magazine‘s review Edit

If you’re looking for a Flip camcorder because you’ve decided you like it’s out-of-the-box simplicity, we don’t blame you. We just think that the $279 SlideHD isn’t the Flip you should be considering. It costs $80 more than the Flip UltraHD, which also has 16GB of internal memory and a simpler design.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The Flip SlideHD brings new video-watching and recording features that are a step above other handheld video cameras such as Creative Technology's Vado and Kodak's Zi line. Hopefully, like other Flips, this device will shrink over time to fit into the pocket.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

The Flip Video SlideHD is a tough sell unless you really want a larger screen for viewing and sharing videos on the go.

Digital Trends‘s review Edit

The larger screen does make it easier to share videos than with either of those cams, but the clunkier controls and fatter design you get in trade just don’t make sense for most users. Only Flip fans who absolutely need the 16GB storage (and aren’t willing to jump ship to an SD-based cam) along with chronic hey-look-what-I-did video sharers will really find the SlideHD a worthy purchase.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Cisco Flip SlideHD features an easy-to-use, touch-screen interface and a nifty tilting display for video watching, but if you're looking for recording versatility, you won't find it in this pricey pocket camcorder.
