Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9 Pro Reviews

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

Sony's DSC-H9 has some interesting features, including an impressive zoom range, manual exposure options, night shooting and a big tilting monitor, and it is competitively priced, but it lack the versatility of some rival cameras. It is also lacking in final image quality, with unexpected optical problems as well as overpowered noise reduction. Not a bad camera, but there are better alternatives available.

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

The Sony DSC-H9 is a full-featured camera which focuses faster than many competing models. The Carl Zeiss lens, at 15X optical, is among the broadest range available. However, images are noisy at and above ISO 400. Also, the shadow detail loss and lens distortion characteristics tend to detract from an otherwise impressive feature set.

Camera Labs‘s review Edit

There’s no doubt the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9 is a very impressive camera. If you’re after a super-zoom with the biggest, most flexible screen and fastest focusing, then the Sony’s for you. Flipping the screen out to shoot at unusual angles, grabbing fast action, then enjoying it on the big screen afterwards is certainly very seductive. It's also nice that Sony's included an infra red remote control and lens hood - albeit a hefty one - as standard accessories.

The Imaging Resource‘s review Edit

There's certainly a lot to like about the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9. It has a big 3-inch swiveling LCD and its image stabilized 15x optical zoom lens provides enough range to capture wide angle as well as telephoto shots. Top-notch macro capabilities and the availability of accessory lenses expand the camera's already broad focal range options.

DP Review‘s review Edit

I have to say that the H9 was a camera I really expected to like, and I started this review expecting to be able to rave about how a great camera had got even better. In reality my experiences with the new flagship Cyber-shot zoom were decidedly mixed, and at times downright disappointing.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

If you shoot primarily outdoors in daytime-especially sports, children and animals-the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9 is a great choice. The cheaper DSC-H7 has a smaller LCD, lacks infrared shooting, and has a few interface differences, but is otherwise identical.
