ASUS UL30A Pro Reviews

ITreviews‘s review Edit

The Asus UL30A is a serviceable notebook which, while it lacks an optical drive, has much of what else is needed for efficient everyday use. It is light and portable too. If you like the look of it but not the mobile broadband deal, you can always buy it stand-alone.

techreport.com‘s review Edit

I'm chomping at the bit to replace my Eee PC with a more powerful budget ultraportable. Unfortunately, each of the systems currently on the market has attributes that have stopped me from pulling the trigger. The UL30A, at least so far, is no exception.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

All said and done, the Asus UL30A is a reasonably good package, but it is around £525. You might find yourself asking if you want to get something that might not run as long, but have more muscle (like, say, Dell's Studio 14z) or forgo a little bit of that power and save a few bucks with a plain ol' netbook. But final judgments are pending.

The ASUS UL30A-A1 is an amazing ultra-thin laptop that gives 10 hours of battery life for less than what everyone else is charging.

It won't win any beauty pageants, but the Asus UL30A has it where it counts: value and battery life. A great keyboard, solid feature set and generous two-year warranty only further strengthen its credentials.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

This is the ideal laptop for the business person or regular traveller who wants to work on the go. It's small, light and offers a truly amazing battery life. But, for those who want a little more flexibility in terms of power and performance, looking elsewhere may be a good idea.

Liliputing‘s review Edit

The Asus UL30A is an interesting machine. It’s not the most powerful laptop you can find for $700 to $800. But it’s strength isn’t its power, so much as the combination of price, performance, and portability. It’s a lot like a netbook that way. It just happens to be bigger, more powerful, and more expensive than most netbooks.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

It's probably too early to call, particularly with the introduction of Windows 7 just about a month away, but we think Asus has a hit on its hands here. Asus managed to do many things right. The design is excellent. It's thin. And it's light. You can also remove the battery, which is larger (8-cells) than most rivals as well. The machine has plenty of RAM and HDD space too. There are plenty of ports for the size. And the keyboard is spacious given the ultraportable form factor. It's the small things that add up, and Asus nailed them.

Outfitted with a new low-voltage processor and plenty of internal storage, this ultraportable offers 10 hours of endurance and enough muscle for work and play.

Notebookcheck‘s review Edit

The polite big brother of the currently at hand Asus UL30A, already had to endure a comprehensive test by our editorial team. Those who opt for the handy 13.3 inch version, are looking for compact mobility. The absence of an optical drive in the UL30A is accepted as a compromise in this case. What counts is battery life, and this is provided in abundance by this laptop.
