Alienware M11x Pro Reviews

PC Pro‘s review Edit

Alienware delivers a world first: a gaming notebook you can sling in a bag, but the price is a little steep

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The M11x is a premium machine that you'll pay a premium price for. It offers astounding performance for its size, but the cramped keyboard, gaudy design (which might be to your taste, but isn't to ours) and slightly iffy viewing angles on the display mean that we can't give it full marks. There's also the price aspect - you're definitely paying for the Alienware brand, even if that's now backed by Dell's massive supply chain. Our review model was slightly high spec, but the entry model is £749.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

We particularly like the M11x's form factor, and fit and finish. It's relatively powerful GeForce GT 335M GPU is also plus, and battery life is very good for a machine with this much power. The M11x's screen wasn't the best we have seen, but it is perfectly acceptable and shouldn't deter anyone from using the system.

Notebookcheck‘s review Edit

Until now, Alienware has rather been known for its big and powerful gaming notebooks at a premium price. Now the manufacturer tries itself on a small 11.6 inch performance midget that is already available for less than 1000 euro, and which would like to show off with a Core 2 Duo SU7300 and a GeForce GT 335M.

With its fusion of a low-voltage processor and high-end graphics, the 11.6-inch Alienware M11x is a unique and extremely compact hybrid gaming laptop with a few compromises for its size.

NotebookReview‘s review Edit

The Alienware M11x remains as awe-inspiring today as it was when Dell announced it back in January. The solid design, compact size, capable gaming performance, and impressively affordable price make the M11x a fantastic choice for PC gamers who already own a high-performance desktop and want a gaming solution when traveling.

Engadget‘s review Edit

It's hard not to love the M11x after spending some time with it. It takes the traditional laptop and netbook formula and tilts the balance in unconventional ways, resulting in novel tradeoffs. It's sized like a netbook but it costs as much as many mainstream laptops - and weighs as much as some of them. It has a slow CPU but a fast GPU that eats battery power voraciously enough that we'd probably just leave switched off until it was time to game - otherwise known as "most of the time" for us.

CrunchGear‘s review Edit

The M11x isn’t a heavy hitter, but it’s a great little machine and if you’re a gamer, I can think of worse ways for you to spend a thousand dollars.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

It’s usually pretty straightforward: an 11.6-inch notebook will deliver battery life but lack grunt, while a larger machine is more likely to pack performance at the expense of liberty from a power point. The Alienware M11x promises to change all that; while it may have the diminutive dimensions of a CULV notebook, its overclocked processor and switchable discrete graphics claim to make it a gamer’s machine where longevity is a choice.
