HTC EVO 4G Pro Reviews

PC World‘s review Edit

The speedy HTC EVO 4G packs in some powerful specs and a variety of multimedia features into a stylish, minimalist design, but not everybody will get to enjoy one of its best features--4G connectivity.

The Evo is as speedy as phones come. For times when 3G just won't do, the Evo is the best and only option. It has a few major setbacks through.

AnandTech‘s review Edit

I really wanted to love the EVO 4G, but as I just described to a colleague of mine the experience is very bipolar. It ranges from wonderful when watching movies or reading a webpage, to frustrating when it comes to battery life or performance.

The Sprint EVO 4G is an impressive device, though it isn't perfect. Voice quality reports are rather mixed, and the phone is somewhat larger than other devices. On the other hand, it's larger for a reason, and the 4.3-inch display is simply stunning.

Phone Scoop‘s review Edit

The HTC Evo 4G is a very good phone, but more than that it's a sign of things to come. If Sprint had released the device without WiMAX, it would still be a top-notch smartphone, but 4G networking gives the Evo 4G even more potential. Unfortunately, my experience with the Sprint 4G network was less than satisfactory.

The HTC EVO 4G is an amazingly strong phone. I liked it over the Droid Incredible based on the comfort associated with the larger display (less typos, better reading) - but I accept the extra bulk that comes with it, will you? The phone is fast, the battery life is good, and you can even extend it, thanks to tools that puts you in control of your power consumption. Most of the apps that I use on other platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc..) are available in some form, except for Skype and Kindle -- two dearly missed apps that I love.

benchmarkreviews‘s review Edit

If you are on the Sprint network and in the market for a cutting edge phone with a large screen, then this phone is for you. In addition, if you are in a city with 4G your Internet speeds for web surfing will be exceptional, and you can use the hotspot function for free, further sweetening the deal. Finally, as of early August 2010 the HTC EVO 4G SmartPhone will receive the Google Android 2.2 'Froyo' operating system update through Sprint.

Engadget‘s review Edit

This is truly one of the best smartphones ever made, and even spotty 4G - a reality of a young technology that's going to take years to properly build out - probably won't do much to hamper your enjoyment of this thing. It's reasonable to assume that phones like the EVO will ultimately come to every carrier over the next few months... but hey, if you jumped ship for Sprint to pick up this monster, we wouldn't be able to blame you.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Made exclusively for Sprint by HTC, the new Android 4G smartphone "EVO" has arrived. The speed of the 4G phone means downloading music, pictures, streaming videos and watching PowerPoint presentations happens in "seconds not minutes"...

MobileBurn‘s review Edit

The HTC EVO 4G is Sprint's latest flagship smartphone product. The Android-powered EVO 4G is, as its name suggests, Sprint's first 4G phone. And it is a powerhouse. With a 1GHz processor, an 8MP HD-capable camera, and a 4.3-inch Touchscreen, there's nothing else like it.

MobileCrunch‘s review Edit

It’s a shame that EVO 4G has such a big deal breaker. I loved this phone. But its really short battery life outweighs all the EVO 4G’s killer feature. It doesn’t matter how awesome it is to browse the Internet on a 4.3-inch screen or do front-facing video calls if the phone’s battery can’t make it through the day. Recommendation: Use caution.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The first WiMAX phone in the U.S. is a terrific platform for streaming media and Web browsing, and it gets your laptop online with Sprint's 4G network. Just keep an eye out for an outlet when you're only using 4G.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

As we always say, you should buy a phone because it fits your needs now, not because of what it might do however many months down the line. Out of the box, the HTC EVO 4G is comprehensive and highly capable, and there’s a wealth of third-party content in the Android Market that extends its abilities even further. Equally, developers are unlikely to abandon support for previous versions of Android, knowing that HTC’s devices are some of the most popular around.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

The HTC Evo 4G is easily Sprint's best smartphone and one of today's top Android devices. It also shows the promise of 4G, which will grow as Sprint's WiMax network expands, but until there's broader 4G coverage, it's hard to agree with the mandatory premium data add-on fee.
