Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) MM-1 Pro Reviews

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Dispersion is stunning, the sound being highly consistent almost anywhere roughly in front of the speakers and the imaging is excellent.

www.whathifi.com‘s review Edit

B&W’s engineers have done plenty of DSP work to ensure the MM-1s produce a decent level of bass despite lacking a subwoofer. These speakers are only 17cm tall, but produce an impressive amount of low-end weight. They’ll play loudly, too, and clever equalisation ensures they never turn hard and shouty. All that happens is that the sound gets steadily more compressed without sounding stressed. It is edging towards being proper hi-fi and that’s not something we thought we’d be saying about a PC package anytime soon.

Audioholics‘s review Edit

It's not often that I get to write nearly an entire review while actually evaluating the product I am reviewing non-stop. With the MM-1's that's exactly what I did - and loved every minute of it. Overall, it was obvious that B&W engineers listened to a lot of material when tuning these speakers and found the best possible solution for a majority of music. Female vocals and midrange performance seemed to get the most attention, but man can these things slam on the low end! We've heard a lot of "multimedia" speakers, but the B&W MM-1s have got to be some of the more enjoyable products we've heard.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The beauty of the Bowers & Wilkins MM-1 is its simplicity, from the design to the ease of use. But you do have to pay for the premium experience and for your average computer user, the £400 asking price is probably too much to pay, especially as there are 2.1 systems out there that are very capable, for much less money. However, if you’ve got the cash and want to quickly and easy improve the audio performance of your computer with something that looks sensational, then you won’t be disappointed with the performance that the Bowers & Wilkins MM-1 offer.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

Hardly an overpriced design piece, the Bowers & Wilkins MM-1 is a fantastic pair of high-end PC speakers worth saving up for.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

For a comany that also sells audiophile grade music online, we were ready to question the Bowers & Wilkins MM-1’s limitation to 16-bit resolution digital audio. As it happens, this speaker system makes something of a silk purse out of CD-quality music. It’s bouncy, infectiously rhythmic given half the chance, and incredibly wideband sounding. Design and construction are first-class, a stylish wrapper over the most supremely musical desktop PC speakers we’ve heard to date. Speakers this small have absolutely no right to sound so damn good.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

We found a lot to like about the B&W MM-1 multimedia speakers, but their $500 price tag gives us pause.
