Microsoft inks patent deal with small Android manufacturer

Microsoft has secured another avenue of income from its smartphone patents, as it has signed a deal with General Dynamics Itronix, a relatively unknown rugged device manufacturer. Microsoft inked a deal with HTC last year that allows HTC to use Microsoft's patents in its Android smartphones.
The terms of the Itronix deal have not been disclosed, but it is evident from the statements that the company is paying Microsoft for the privilege of using its patents. The companies' statement on the agreement says "Although the contents of the agreement have not been disclosed, the parties indicate that Microsoft will receive royalties from General Dynamics Itronix under the agreement." »read more
