Yahoo today announced Play by Yahoo! Music, a new music/MP3 player for Android handsets. The application offers a number of features that bank on Yahoo's existing services. The music player includes its own form of Shazam/SoundHound and can identify single tracks and a series of tracks. It also includes a streaming news channel that provides updates on musicians and artists. The player offers what Yahoo calls behavior-based smart shuffle. The player uses past playing history to create moods/playlists. Last, it includes Twitter and Facebook integration so users can share their music selections with friends.
