Cisco to Acquire TV Software Developer NDS for $5 Billion

Cisco on Thursday announced plans to acquire NDS Group, which develops software for television networks, for $5 billion.
NDS, which was founded in Israel in 1988 and is headquartered in London, develops software and services "that make enjoying TV anywhere, anytime and on any device a possibility," according to the company's website. Its solutions allow pay-TV providers to deliver digital content to TVs, DVRs, PCs, mobile and other multimedia devices.
