Thought Cisco Was Out of Home Networking? Think Again

Cisco seems to be in a very different place now than it was about six months ago. The networking and telecommunications giant recently hired a new general manager of its Home Networking Business Unit. That's the same division of Cisco that many predicted would be shuttered after CEO John Chambers announced the company would re-focus on its "core competencies," including enterprise networking, collaboration and video.
The announcement was made in wake of economic losses, perception Cisco had "disappointed" investors, and inevitably resulted in job losses, the killing of the Flip consumer video portion of its business, as well as endless speculation, much of it negative.
