iPhone killer

Posted by Crossblade on Jan 27, 2010

Hate it or love it, iPhone is one (or the) of the best selling high-end smartphone on the planet. Packed with a fast CPU and the trendy and "open" Android OS, will the Google child Nexus the First be able to be a real rival of the iPhone?

Im currently saving up for a new phone, and the nexus one is looking very promising to me, the price is a bit high but i think compared to the iphone hardware wise its worth it.

The Iphone revolutionized the whole touch screen smart phone niche...but i must say after owning the Nexus one...an Iphone will seem like a step down...more apps yes but an aged UI with hardware that havent really changed visibly is just not that apeealing anymore...it was when it came out but i dont see why ppl keep buying a phone that looks the same every year...Android is the future and with a few more updates on the N1 it will be the phone to beat hands down...but currently it comes down to user opinion...and my opinion is with the N1

I definately think the Nexus one is a better phone than the Iphone but im not so sure about the term Iphone killer. What would define an Iphone killer (better than the Iphone? stops the iphone from having such a large presence in the market?) I think no matter what new phones come out we are gonna see Iphones saturating the mobile market for some time to come. There are too many docks, accesories and too much peripheral compatibilty for some people to move away from the iphone and apple has such a cult following you will see them stick around like the treo 650 but with more users holding on to them. Ive typed alot but the summary is the Nexus one is a better phone but the Iphone isnt going anywhere

Though I don't think this phone will have the same impact as the iPhone did when it came out, it's still a marvelous piece of technology.

if they would have marketed the nexus one like the iphone or droid, it would have sold way more than 20,000. and now with the pinch/ zoom on there, it shows what a little update can do to make your phone new again!

I agree completely with you. With marketing the Nexus One is not going anywhere and many people are going to miss out on this phone because Google doesn't want to market it.

I personally am impressed with the amount of Sexy Nexy's that were sold with literally no marketing money involved. They have the blogsphere "free press" a one liner on their website "no cost to google" a press release "cost them a days worth of work and some snacks for the media hounds" and some youtube videos which are coming out now rather than before. To sell an estimated 80,000 devices in january with really only word of mouth advertising is pretty impressive to me.

Wow, never thought of it that way...
