Nokia has announced that it will be cutting 3,500 jobs from its payroll and closing a plant in Romania as part of the second restructuring of the company in six months.
Nokia will be closing a plant in Romania that had 2,200 employees. A further 1,300 will be cut from its Location & Commerce business unit, which includes Navteq, the mapping software company that Nokia owns. The company says that it is evaluating the future of plants in Finland, Mexico, and Hungary, and that further job cuts would come next year.
The 3,500 jobs cut are in addition to the 4,000 that Nokia announced were being dropped back in April. »read more
