The pocket cameras have huge resolution that is not needed ... you can print a normal photo with a 3-megapixel camera. Manufacturers should improve quality, noise, speed, etc and then go for resolution.
Well that it is well said and true. Manufacturers continue the resolution battle only because this is what most people look for when buying a camera. They don't care that it doesn't have image stabilization or good noise subexpression. They want more pixels.
