ViewSonic sent around a teaser for its "Touch and Connect" series prototypes, including a 22-inch "smart business tablet monitor," powered by what appears to be Ice Cream Sandwich. The giant touch-enabled device will be joined by a Windows 8 multi-touch display, new cloud computing solutions, high-end laser projectors and some interactive electronic billboards -- all set to make their debut on June 5th at Computex. More details will no-doubt be forthcoming in Taipei, so do stay tuned. Count ViewSonic among the manufacturers who fully intend to build a tablet or two around Microsoft's upcoming Windows 8 operating system, though a launch in the U.S. might depend on how many Windows 8 tablets ViewSonic is able to sell in Taiwan. Max Liu, product marketing director of ViewSonic Asia Pacific, reportedly confirmed a Windows 8 tablet is in the company's cards and that it would ship in the second quarter of 2012 at the earliest.

ViewSonic shows off 7

ViewSonic shows off 7" ViewPad E70

Posted on Jan 11, 2012 by MG15

Just in case you haven't had enough news recently about Android tablets, we've got another one for you. This time it's from ViewSonic and it's part of the budget category of devices. The ViewSonic ViewPad E70 is a 7" tablet running Ice Cream Sandwich, and due out in late Q1 of this year for just $180. Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends. Sure, the tab is under $200, but for that you're getting an Ice Cream Sandwich tablet which still has capacitive buttons for some strange reason, and the innards are just as strange. The E70 has a 1 GHz CPU (no word on cores, but we're assuming single), and just 4 GB of storage. It will be capable of 1080p out through an HDMI port. Overall, if you...

ViewSonic unleashes ViewPad 10pi, 10e and ViewPhone 3 at CES

Posted on Jan 11, 2012 by MG15

It wasn't enough for ViewSonic to bring just one tablet to CES 2012, the company had two ten-inchers in tow as well, though, neither the 10pi or 10e sport the lust-worthy Ice Cream Sandwich. The 10pi is a dual-booting machine with an Oak Trail z670 pushing your choice of Gingerbread or Windows 7 to a 1280 x 800 IPS panel. The 10e is a 9.1mm-thin Android 2.3 device running on a 1GHz Cortex A8. Both the 10pi and 10e will be available later this month for $849 and $299, respectively. The company also announced that the ViewPhone 3 would be coming to Latin America, as expected, later this quarter for $279.

ViewSonic ViewPad 7x will be available in Europe for 349 EUR

Posted on Aug 29, 2011 by MG15

ViewSonic’s ViewPad 7x, the 7-inch Android tablet that was announced back in May, is heading to Europe where it will be available for 350 EUR, which is pretty affordable by Europe’s standards (gadgets cost much less in the U.S.). That money gets you a device that’s pretty comparable with the Acer Iconia Tab A100, rocking NVidia’s Tegra 2 dual-core processor, Android 3.2 and a 1024×600 pixels, 10-point multi-touch display. In addition, it also comes with dual cameras (one on the back and a front-facing one), Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth and other “standard for an Android tablet” goodies.
