Sony has announced the NEX_FS700 pro-grade 4k-capable E-mount camcorder. The camera will initially offer 1080p video, switchable between 50Hz and 60Hz frame rates (including 60p, 50p, 60i and 24p). Sony HXR-NX30 camcorder: built-in projector, 96GB storage for $2,500 (video)

Posted on Apr 03, 2012 by MG3

Don't worry, lone gunslingers, today isn't just about the NEX-FS700. Sony's pro range has also been bolstered with the HXR-NX30 for videographers who need to travel light. This model sacrifices interchangeable lenses in favor of a palm-friendly form factor with a 26mm-260mm (35mm equivalent) Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T fixed lens. The camera sports Sony's 'Balanced Optical SteadyShot' technology, which means both the lens and the sensor assembly are floated as a single element to minimize camera shake. Unlike that of the larger NEX-VG20, the HXR-NX30's sensor is shrunken too: it's an Exmor R CMOS that's only slightly larger than 1/3-inch. The North American NX30U variant handles 1920 x 1080 at...

Sony reveals Spring Handycam lineup, including HDR-CX760V, XR260V, and CX190

Posted on Jan 10, 2012 by MG3

At CES in Las Vegas, Sony has unveiled what appears to be their entire imaging lineup for 2012, including 13 new Handycam camcorders. Of them, seven models are traditional camcorders, in the sense that they support neither 3D capture nor light projector playback with built-in video projectors.
Most of the announced models have features and specifications that are in lock-step with their projector-equipped equivalents. At the top of the product line, for example, the HDR-CX760V is almost identical to the HDR-PJ760V, minus the projector. This includes Full HD video recording at 24p, with 24.1 megapixel still image capture, and 96 GB of built in flash memory. The CX760V will be an optical Stead...

The PJ760V will be capable of projecting videos of up to 100 inches diagonally in size, and storing 120 hours of video on 96 GB of internal flash memory. Optical SteadyShot will aim to reduce shakiness while zooming, and the camcorder will be equipped with a full suite of ma...

Posted on Jan 10, 2012 by MG3

Sony announced their latest high-end 3D camcorder today at CES 2012 in Las Vegas. The HDR-TD20V Handycam replaces the TD10 as the company’s most full-featured and highest-priced consumer 3D camcorderLike its predecessor, this will be a Double Full HD 3D camcorder with an autostereoscopic 3D (glasses-free) playback monitor. Last season, the TD10’s 3D playback monitor was the best in the industry (although it still wasn’t great), so we’re excited to see what improvements this new model will bring. Video recording in either 24p or 60p is available, as well as regular 60i recording. Still image capture of up to 20 megapixels is also possible, though in the past Sony has relied on heavy interpola...
