ASUS UL80Vt Pro Reviews

techreport.com‘s review Edit

According to our price search engine, the UL80Vt-A1 is currently selling for around $825 online. Amazon is also running a deal that'll get you the system and a $100 gift card for $824, with free shipping to boot. Even with that pseudo discount, the UL80Vt isn't among the cheapest 14" systems you can buy. It is, however, one of the most versatile.

Engadget‘s review Edit

While this CULV laptop's not going to be standing in for anyone's gaming rig any time soon, it's a real win for the thin and light category, where you expect certain tradeoffs. In this case, thankfully, battery life isn't one of them, and there are enough useful, pleasing features about this unit to outweigh the minor performance and hardware issues we found.

AnandTech‘s review Edit

Whether you need a lightweight laptop, something you can use on a business trip without constantly worrying about plugging in, or even a system that can run most games (albeit at lower detail settings), the ASUS UL80Vt has you covered. It's possible to equal the battery life of the UL80Vt, but it's very difficult to do while still matching the performance and features ASUS offers.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

The UL80Vt isn't perfect though. While the keyboard was stellar and the multi-touch aspect of the trackpad were a plus, we still aren't into the dimpled pad and the glossy LCD. For those working outdoors, this screen could potentially be a major nuisance. Also, the relatively low 1366x768 resolution is nothing to write home about, and the slower 5400rpm (320GB) hard drive isn't all that quick when it comes time to boot or load applications for the first time.

PC World‘s review Edit

The UL80Vt-A1 delivers good battery life, a discrete GPU, and a surprisingly snappy user experience, but gets held back on design choices.

NotebookReview‘s review Edit

The ASUS UL80Vt is a notebook we really want to like but has too many drawbacks to overwhelmingly recommend. While it has a stellar ten-hour battery life, sleek design, and good overall performance, its weak build quality, abysmal keyboard, and unfriendly touchpad prevent us from signing its praises.

Notebookcheck‘s review Edit

"UltraLight" is the name Asus has given to the new UL notebook range that has now been released onto the market. The UL80 models have a 14.0 inch HD display and a hybrid solution made up of Intel's GMA 4500MHD and Nvidia's GeForce G 210M graphic card. The "8" in the name steps out of line for our course of thought, but is explained quickly with the superstition "Center of the Earth". Thus, the UL80 positions itself between the smaller UL30 and the bigger UL50.

Long battery life and good performance help make the feature-packed UL80Vt today's best under-$1,000 thin-and-light.
