NOKIA N97 mini Pro Reviews

reghardware‘s review Edit

With its decent camera, okay browser, better than average music player Wi-Fi, HSDPA 3G and A-GPS The Nokia N97 Mini seems pretty, much as its predecessor did. Yet it’s still a frustrating experience to use, largely due to that irritatingly unresponsive screen – and the unintuitive, clunky and ugly UI doesn’t help either. If you persevere and get used to its quirks though, it has a lot to offer. The trouble is, there are plenty of other phones from HTC, Apple, Palm and Blackberry that offer all those features too, and make them easier to use.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Nokia N97 mini is an improvement over the original N97, and the free Ovi Maps GPS app rocks. But there's still not enough here to pull U.S. buyers away from other smart devices.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The Nokia N97 Mini has a strong set of specs, a variety of multimedia features that work well, and a solid design. And the addition of flick scrolling is definitely a big improvement to navigation. Unfortunately, the Mini is hindered by the Symbian S60 OS. It simply lacks the silky user experience we've grown accustomed to in touchscreen devices. When we reviewed the Nokia N97 back in June 2009, we had yet to experience the explosion of Android devices with cool user interfaces such as HTC's SenseUI or Motorola's MotoBlur. Next to phones like the HTC Hero or the Motorola Cliq, the N97 Mini feels dated; and that's too bad, considering all that this handset can do.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The Nokia N97 Mini is a decent device with plenty of features going for it, a good quality performance and build, and a very usable QWERTY keyboard to complement its hefty amount of onboard functionality. The 'Mini' label hasn't shaved a huge amount off the price tag though. Despite scaling down some features, however, the N97 Mini is possibly more attractive as a pocket QWERTY-packing smartphone handset than its N97 big brother.

letsgomobile‘s review Edit

The Nokia N97 Mini with its small dimensions is an nice option when the original N97 is not wanted due to its format. All its onboard functions make it a true all-rounder to the user. OVI-mail can be set on the active home screen as email program by default, so you don't miss any incoming mails. Thanks to the full QWERTY keyboard, writing messages is no problem at all.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

The Nokia N97 Mini is a more stable and better designed device than the bigger N97, but its Achilles' heel remains as the confusing user interface keeps it behind today's leading touch-screen smartphones.

More pocket friendly than the N97, with a great feature count – but it’s a shame it’s such a pain to use.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The N97 Mini offers a lot, there is no doubt about that, with a spec sheet that contains pretty much everything you'd expect. The form of the phone - side slider - isn't one we are opposed to and the build quality and design is pretty good.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

In my opinion, the Mini is a slightly better handset than the N97 as it manages to pack almost all the same features into a much smaller and slicker chassis. However, the inconsistencies in the user interface and lacklustre keyboards are still significant let downs and make the phone less enjoyable to use than many of its competitors.

MobileBurn‘s review Edit

The Nokia N97 mini is a smaller version of Nokia's flagship N97 smartphone. It features a touchscreen display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and runs Nokia's Symbian S60 user interface.

Softpedia‘s review Edit

Nokia N97 mini is a big improvement in terms of design and performance, compared to the previous N97 high-end smarpthone. The smaller size, the stylish look, as well as the build quality exceeded my expectations. Perhaps a lower price would have made it sell much better than the original N97.

PC Pro‘s review Edit

Nokia's N97 was hyped as the next big thing this time last year, but it took some time to materialise and, when it did, Nokia's first touchscreen smartphone was a letdown. The Mini is a far more accomplished device.

Geek‘s review Edit

Mobile phones have changed greatly over time. Even the most basic phones these days come with some form of Internet connectivity which really begins to blur the line between a mobile phone and smartphone. This confusion has even spurred the creation of a new mobile phone category some people call “advanced devices”. If that’s true the Nokia N97 mini is an advanced device on speed.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

We feel a whole lot warmer toward the Nokia N97 mini than we did toward the original N97. Its slimmed-down design and improved software have taken much of the sting out of ownership, and the compromises – the absence of an FM transmitter and the smaller onboard storage – are minor in comparison to the far better keyboard and sturdier build.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

The Nokia army of touchscreen smartphones gets larger by the hour and the Nokia N97 mini is surely one of the most interesting new recruits. The Finnish company has obviously reconsidered its priories and now focuses on optimization, rather than expansion with its flagships.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

Shortly after Nokia released their flagship device for 2009, the N97, speculations about a more compact version of it began to circulate. All information about it seemed unreliable at first, but the rumors materialized into a very real device at Nokia World 2009, called the Nokia N97 mini...

Like its older N97 sibling, Nokia's N97 Mini has reliable multimedia features, but the OS desperately needs a redesign.
