LG GW620 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

The InTouch Max GW620 is LG's first Android phone, and has a large slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a customised user interface, although you do have the choice of switching between this and the standard Android home screen. LG's interface differs only slightly at first glance, adding a small toolbar across the bottom of the home screen that matches the toolbar found on other LG phones.

LG has produced a superb physical keyboard for the GW620 InTouch Max, and then spoilt it by using touch sensitive rather than physical buttons on the front. Keen data creators might find it a good choice, though.

The LG GW620’s accessible price means that this may prove to be the first move into the wonderful world of smartphones for many and, as such, it's has most of the features we'd expect, even if not all of them work as well as we'd expect. The keyboard is a gem, easy to use and jam packed with keys, and the social networking elements are better than many, but the resistive screen can be irritatingly insensitive and the processor can be annoyingly slow.

In sum, the LG GW620 is a neat smartphone; it is certainly a nice addition to the assortment. As the first LG Android phone, the LG GW620 is a successful debut.

If you want the unique combination of a Google Android platform with a keyboard then the LG GW620 is a good smartphone to buy.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

LG GW620 is like a really, really good phone made out with a bad one and the resultant mobile baby came out with elements of both. The cost of the handset is great and the level of connectivity and productivity will entice a lot of people. But then again, the resistive screen is poor, the phone is chunky and while the keyboard is good, the on-screen option isn't in the same league, and that's a real turn off for some people.

The fact that LG has also chosen the Android platform is a wise choice. Important developments have been made in this domain and the brands that are not (yet) using Android are falling behind. The use of Android in the new LG GW620 smartphone is well done. Next to the standard menu, there is also the LG menu, so that the LG GW620 Android smartphone gets its own feeling.

This 'smartphone for everyone' has some nice features, but it lacks the quality of its pricier siblings.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

The low-profile LG GW620 turned out a decent gadget indeed. A solid QWERTY messenger with proper computing power, it will meet most users’ needs without breaking the bank.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Overall the GW620 is a great handset. There are some limitations that come with the affordability tag – the screen could be a higher resolution and more responsive. Small details, like video capture, could offer more. From a consumer point of view, you don't get the sense of completion that you do from something like the Motorola DEXT, which is probably its closest rival.

All told, the LG GW620 IntouchMax is close to being the perfect Android smartphone – assuming you want a physical keyboard. Its keyboard is superb, it has all the features we'd hope for, all laid out as well as we've seen. Sadly, the package is let down by the use of a soft resistive touch-screen and slightly sluggish operation.

The LG GW620 (also known as the Eve) is the first attempt of the manufacturer at an Android OS. The device relies on a synergy of touch-sensitive screen, sliding QWERTY keyboard, personalized S-CLASS interface and integrated social networking functionality...
