RIM BlackBerry Storm2 9520 Pro Reviews

www.whathifi.com‘s review Edit

The Storm2 looks and feels like a weighty, premium product and marks the most obvious step into all-round entertainment territory. Unlike most BlackBerry handsets, it has a full, 3.25in, 480 x 360 screen.Inside you'll find a 2GB embedded memory card, 256MB flash memory and the ability to add extra storage with an SD card. The BlackBerry Storm2 talks a good game, but as a smartphone focused around AV performance and internet browsing, it doesn't quite cut it.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The BlackBerry Storm 2 is an odd phone to mark. When we first started using the phone, there were a number of problems (such as the dropping calls and fiddly to use interface) but these seemed to quickly melt away once we got used to the SurePress technology. The Storm 2 can't rival the iPhone or HTC Hero on our rankings - we liked it a lot more than we thought we would, but the SurePress technology just isn't for us.

There's nothing really wrong with the Storm 2, there's just not a lot new to blow a reviewer away. The 3.2-megapixel camera would have been considered high-end even a year ago, but it's now falling behind in the race for better quality picture and video recording.

Verizon Wireless has released the BlackBerry Storm2. This new smartphone has the same general look and feel as the original, but comes with a redesigned touchscreen, Wi-Fi, and more.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

RIM have certainly succeeded in making their touchscreen absolutely consistent with the very BlackBerry concept. The Storm series are not shying away from innovation, but the number one purpose of innovation here is to respect tradition. There's nothing wrong with that but it's not the best way to appeal to a wider market. Anyway, the ongoing effort to match the hardware keyboard ergonomics on a touchscreen seems almost complete with the Storm2. Typing is what books the Storm2 a premier league place.

Despite the diverse range of smartphones available for almost anyone at any price point, there will always be some who can't live without the BlackBerry Internet Service. If you are one those who belong to this group and hope to migrate to touchscreen devices, we would wholeheartedly recommend the Storm2 over the Storm.

The Storm2 is a decent update of the original handset. However, touchscreen smartphones have moved on considerably since the Storm first appeared and the Storm2 feels more like a device that fixes faults rather than an upgrade that elevates the Storm into a position where it can really challenge competitors like the iPhone. Perhaps next time around BlackBerry needs to be less obsessed with its clickable screen and more focused on closing the gap to its rivals.
