HTC Hero Pro Reviews

ITreviews‘s review Edit

The HTC Hero is the best Android based handset we have seen to date. The abundance of home screens may be difficult for some to master, but you only need to use what you want to and can ignore the rest. Battery life might be a concern to some, though.

reghardware‘s review Edit

The HTC Hero has a lot of things going for it, with an impressive multi-touch screen, easy-access social networking apps and Google's ever-evolving Android OS, which HTC has customised, adding a few tricks of its own. The main issue is that, with a phone as full-featured as this, the processor appears underpowered. Perhaps HTC has jumped the gun with an interface and functionality that are just too advanced for the current hardware. That said, it's a fun smartphone that looks great and offers loads of possibilities – well worth checking out.

ubergizmo‘s review Edit

Because it is faster, better built and has HTC Sense (user interface improvement for HTC phones), the HTC Hero is simply the best Android smartphone on the market today (in the U.S at least). The native and complete support of Exchange makes it suitable for small businesses and therefore a good potential replacement for Windows Mobile devices. Its web browser has pinch and zoom support and the Hero has a number of things that were in our MyTouch 3G (read our MyTouch 3G review) wish list: multi-touch, more widgets, 3.5mm audio connector (and full Exchange support).

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The HTC Hero design is distinctive, the user interface is absolutely superb and it's packed with all the latest features. Unfortunately, the Hero doesn't seem to have the hardware needed to keep up with its innovative software, resulting in a sometimes slow and frustrating user experience. It remains a superb phone that is really only let down by slow performance.

Geeky Gadgets‘s review Edit

Overall the HTC Hero is a great Android smartphone, although it is a little older now and doesn’t share the same specifications as some of the newer models from HTC. What we loved about the HTC Hero was the Sense UI, it is really easy to use and definitely the best user interface we have seen so far on an Android smartphone.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

We wanted to love the HTC Hero so much, as it sounded like a real alternative to the iPhone. And for the most part it is. It's wrong how nearly every touchscreen on the market is compared to Apple's device, as most aren't aiming to be the same thing, but the HTC Hero is clearly a competitor, and it competes very well. It's clear this is the best Android phone yet.

The combination of HTC and Google Android makes the Hero mobile phone a genuinely new experience. The Magic HTC already gave us a hunch we were witnessing something significant of which we would see much more in the future. And no doubt, HTC now takes things a step further with the HTC Hero, and the HTC Sense interface proves that the user has been focused on.

A hugely likeable phone that excels at web browsing and manages to just live up to its ambitious name. However, a couple of quirks prevent us giving it an all-out recommendation.

I, along with most of you, am anxiously awaiting a Sense device with a 1 GHz+ processor and huge memory banks. When one does come out, people will wonder why I rated the Hero so high. But this is what we have right now. It the current market, I think Hero performance is acceptable, if only when weighed against the incredible advances Sense offers. If there were a Snapdragon Sense phone on the market today, I'd say sell your Hero (though it just might become the new hacker's toy, in place of the T-Mobile G1).

This device would be perfect for the person who wants to stay connected, but with a minimum of fuss. The built-in applications are so comprehensive as to supply almost anyone's needs, though the Android Market is also available for more specialized situations. It obviously doesn't compare to the vast multitude of applications available on Apple's App Store, but that also means that you won't have to wade through a ton of junk to find what you really need.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

We found the HTC Hero to be one of the best Android devices to date, thanks to the Sense UI. Of course, they are the dominant force for now, seeing as how manufacturers such as LG, Sony Ericsson and Samsung are only just starting to announce the availability of their own Android devices. The biggest carrot that HTC has dangled, is the price point of S$898 for the Hero

Do all the things you want to do with it and make your own judgments about typing on the onscreen keypad, browsing the Internet, using the multi touch zoom capabilities and even have a fiddle with the Android market place... it has an application for almost everything!

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Overall the Hero lives up to it's name: it's an easy to use device that out-of-box delivers much of the connected experience that other phones will have you scrabbling around to find apps for. Tying together contacts with your social networks is great and brings a sense of completeness.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

The HTC Hero is truly a superb phone and a real competitor to the iPhone range. The addition of multitouch, the flawed but still useful Flash support, plus the excellent HTC widgets make it a joy to use and place it significantly ahead of any previous Android phone. The G1 may have got Android off to a slow start, but the Hero shows that it's now fully up to speed. Make no mistake, the Hero really is a fabulous phone and its price is very attractive compared to the expensive iPhone 3GS.

MobileBurn‘s review Edit

The HTC Hero is a great handset that I thoroughly enjoyed using. Its older brother, the Magic, was great fun when I tested it a while back, but the Hero is better still and I'd happily use one as my everyday phone. It's quite something for me to heartily recommend a touchscreen device, as (being a heavy texter/emailer) I've always been skeptical about using one full-time, but this is the first device that I've reviewed in 18 months that has triggered my 'I need this gadget' impulse.

Softpedia‘s review Edit

The latest Android smartphone from HTC and the first to feature the new Sense interface attracts users with every aspect. Design, GUI, ease of use, performance, these are making the Hero one of the best choices for those in search of a good-looking, powerful smartphone. I was very happy to use the phone and I can say that HTC has made almost a perfect job in trying to offer an alternative to the Apple's iPhone.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

n the beginning there was G1: the frontline trooper, the mean machine, the expendable GI. Elsewhere, in the HTC discourse, it was hope and vision. Well, it seems the dreamer's Dream is coming true and someone there is really proud with what they've done. HTC Hero is perhaps the most advanced Android to date. And the OS is probably the closest the competition has ever come to the iPhone's touchscreen revelation. The bold lines of the HTC Hero are just a hint at its superior hardware and when it comes to homescreen kit and widgets, it definitely has an edge even over the iPhone.

We´d like to introduce you the best Android-based cell phone, the HTC Hero. This is the story of a Teflon coated hero that´s powerful and yet, sensitive, who loves all your friends and will fall over backwards to help you socialize. He will certainly impress you, shake you and leave you gasping for air as if run over by a herd of stampeding elephants…

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

Sprint was one of the first carriers to join the Open Handset Alliance when it was founded in November 2007 to promote Google Android. However, unlike T-Mobile, which released the T-Mobile G1 and the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G, the carrier wasn't so quick to offer an Android handset to its customers because it simply didn't think the operating system was "good enough"; that is, until now.
