T-Mobile Dash 3G Pro Reviews

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The T-Mobile Dash 3G works very well as a messaging and e-mail device, but it doesn't have the chops to compete with other messaging powerhouses, such as the BlackBerry Curve 8900 or the Sidekick LX, both on T-Mobile as well. The interface is in dire need of a face-lift, and the phone's included features need a boost. Our biggest problem with the Dash, though, is its omission of the Inner Circle feature, as seen on its sibling, the HTC Snap. T-Mobile's myFaves coupled with the Inner Circle would have given the Dash an edge over other messaging smartphones, but unfortunately T-Mobile missed the mark on this one.

MobileCrunch‘s review Edit

The Dash 3G is far from being a bad phone, but it has some serious problems that could have been fixed. The keyboard and button layouts are both troublesome, which contrasts starkly with the build quality, which is excellent all around. The custom interface is nice, but really it’s just a thin layer on top of the usual nasty Windows Mobile stuff.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

Long overdue, the T-Mobile Dash 3G is a worthy upgrade to its predecessor with the addition of such features as 3G support, GPS, and an updated design.

The HTC Dash 3G is a worthy upgrade to the Dash, even though they both use the same Windows Mobile 6.1 OS. The new model has quite a few enhancements including 3G connectivity, an easy-to-use home screen, a trackball, a 2-megapixel camera, and an e-mail set up tool that’s so easy to use anyone can get their e-mail on this smartphone within minutes. The only thing we missed was the inclusion of UMA.

mobiledia‘s review Edit

For messaging, the Dash 3G is a great option. It has an attractive design, many ways to connect and great Internet service. For screen quality, camera quality, and storage, the phone is still good. But the it may need yet another reincarnation to get more built-in entertainment options and better audio speaker quality.

Hard to believe, it’s been a quarter-shy of three years since T-Mobile released the HTC Dash. Back in late 2006 we praised the Windows Mobile smartphone’s build-quality and in-hand feel; since then, rivals have brought faster connectivity and slicker OSes to the table. Now T-Mobile and HTC are back with the smartphone’s successor, the Dash 3G: can it pick up where the original left off, or has it simply arrived too late?

MobileBurn‘s review Edit

T-Mobile's Dash is the latest Windows Mobile 5.0 offering from the US Carrier. The handset is based on the HTC Excalibur reference design, and as such is functionally the same as the HTC branded S620 sold in Europe. It sports such highlights as WiFi, EDGE, and Bluetooth data, as well as a full QWERTY keyboard, in a very compact and slim design. In many regards, it can be fairly compared with Motorola's Q smartphone, but with the the Q's 3G support having been swapped out for WiFi connectivity on the Dash.

PC World‘s review Edit

Focused more on fun than on work, the sleek T-Mobile Dash is a device designed to appeal to the Sidekick set. Though it resembles the Motorola Q, the candy bar-style phone is rubberized, rounded, and otherwise made friendlier for riding along in a pocket.
