The Samsung Highlight doesn't offer anything you haven't seen before, but it works quite well as an entry-level touch-screen phone.

phonedog‘s review Edit

The Samsung Highlight is a slim touch screen cell phone that has a lot going for it: 3G connectivity with T-Mobile’s Web2Go interface, 3-megapixel camera, solid battery life, and impressive call quality. Plus the cell phone even comes with included headphones that work with the Samsung proprietary headset jack. In short, if you want a cell phone that offers impressive call quality, a speedy web experience, in a size that’s easy to transport in a shirt pocket, the Highlight is worth consideration.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The phone performs well, the camera offers pictures, but nothing that will blow you away and there is little to complain about. It's Samsung being Samsung and therefore not really offensive in any way in terms of usability and specs.

MobileBurn‘s review Edit

Samsung's SGH-T749 Highlight, from T-Mobile, offers a great multimedia experience in a small form factor. The 3-inch WQVGA (240 x 400 pixel) resolution touchscreen display is responsive and offers a fun user experience, though the TouchWiz homescreen is slightly frustrating, thanks to oversized icons and confusing widgets. The contacts application is robust, and the internet browser is quite nice, as well.

PC World‘s review Edit

Nowadays everyone wants a device to manage their schedule, access social networking services, and play the occasional music video--all on a touchscreen that resembles a Star Trek tricorder. The Samsung Highlight ($130 with a two-year T-Mobile contract, as of 8/5/09) has few features that make it stand out from the iPhone, the Palm Pre, or the T-Mobile G1. Instead, it looks and feels like a lesser iPhone--and it costs $30 more...
