THIS PHONE IS ONE OF THE BEST/SMARTEST DUMB PHONE OUT THERE. 9.5/10 PHONE. YOU CAN PRACTICALLY DO ANYTHING WITH THIS PHONE BUT THE BATTERY DRAINS QUICKLY. I RECOMMENEND THIS PHONE TO ANY ONE THAT DOES NOT WANT A SMARTPHONE BECAUSE OF THE DATA PLANS.
Although this phone has had many mixed reviews I have to say that I actually really do like it. I have had mine for quite a while now and have yet to really have any problems with it. It has a lot of great features and over all I would have to say it is the best phone I have had from verizon in a while.
This phone is the worst phone i have ever had. It constantly pocket dials and it has a battery life of 4 hours. It likes to turn itself off and reset itself back to factry settings and also likes to logon to the internet and charge 100 of usage per month. I Hate this phone
I thought this would be the perfect phone for me considering i came from and enV2 and a Voyager in titanium. For the first few months everything was great then i left it in my school locker during class and I came back to my screen being blue and pink(much like car oil on blacktop). I would not expect this from a "high end device". Also i now have a squeaky hinge....Thank the lord I only have a 1 year contract.
For those not looking to own a smartphone or for those that can't simply afford the add-ons of a smartphone this is as good as it gets. The excellent keyboard and feature-full browser allows you to pretty much do anything you can do with a smartphone or iPod Touch save for the more high-end stuff like WiFi or full Flash browsing.
I have had this phone since it was released and i must say i am very happy with it. The screen is very crisp, inside and out. Signal is about the same as other LG phones i have had in the past, the battery life is a bit less but i am also using my phones for more than i was previously as this phone can do a bit more. The only thing that sucks about it is that now it does require a data package to have this phone, starting back in Nov of 2009. I personally have the connect plan which has unlimited data included, but that wont work now if you are signing a new contract on this phone.
Got this phone the week it came out after having terrible software issues with the Samsung Alias 2. Very solid messaging and multimedia phone without being a smartphone. Upgraded to V07 of the firmware and have had a few issues. Random shutoffs and random times the screen will not illuminate correctly. Weird. Overall though, this is a great phone if you want to stay out of the smartphone world... although Verizon does now require at least a 9.99 monthly data plan with this phone. :( But I don't have to pay for that, because I owned this phone before they started that crap. :D
I have this phone and absolutely love it. I have had it for quite sometime now and haven't seemed to have any problems with it. It has a great camera, and the touch interface works rather smoothly. I would recommend this phone to anyone!!! Best phone I think I have ever had.
After owning the original enV I decided I would give the enV Touch a test drive. Overall I like the phone and the qualities it possesses but what it lacks I would rather go for a Blackberry or Android device. Don't get me wrong, if you are just looking for txting/calling/some internet then this phone is for you! Just beware of the soft ring tones and a bunch of software freezes to come.
I got this phone when it first came out as I didn't want or need a data plan but I figured it'd make a good transition phone if/when I get a data plan. For the basics it works really well. That said, the software is very basic and full of glitches. With every "update" comes a new set of problems such as freezing or random white screens. The web browser is acceptable, but not up to par with a PDA. Overall, I feel this phone is meant for people who want to ease into the world of apps, but aren't ready for a full PDA.
Given that Verizon gives you 2 data options on this phone ($9.99 for 25 MB or $29.99 for unlimited) this phone doesn't make sense for those who use the Internet on a regular basis.
Given newer devices such as the Droid and Palm Pre, the EnV Touch really shows how little it can do. Granted it's not a PDA and it's not meant to be one, but given the data pricing, it just doesn't make sense.
This phone (after it has been updated to the latest software) does exactly what is advertised. The problem is that it does ONLY exactly what is advertised. With the advent of cool smartphones from Blackberry, Google, and Palm that have full browsers, loads of apps, and just are plain cool, you'll want to upgrade to one of those after a few months of this phone. Verizon's apps are expensive, restrictive, and slow, the Verizon Mobile Web is just barely usable, the VZ Navigator is passable, and the email is basic and shows no graphics. So, if you just want some multimedia functions with a touch screen phone AND QWERTY keyboard, this is the phone for you. I warn you though, once you start playing with it, you'll want more!!! (P.S. Get Verizon to upgrade the phone to the latest software...the factory software is VERY buggy)
I have to say, I couldn't be happier with this phone. As far as feature phones go, this one is loaded and is really just a half-step below the smartphones. Great browser, best QWERTY imo, and it's on the best network (in Las Vegas at least).

Pros
great resolution
keyboard
browser
mp3 player.
Cons
the touch screen could stand to be a bit more responsive
and the virtual QWERTY has sucked since I got the v7 firmware update.
I got the Touch before it was publicly avaialble thanks to various forums. I didn't have any trouble or issues that a lot of folks complain about, i.e. hinges, freezing, etc. UNTIL, my SD card slot stopped working correctly and shot my card halfway across the room. I had to get a refurb unit and it isn't all that great. It seems that the original one worked better when I did my own online updates, but the FRU that came already loaded with the latest software has some bugs. I can't wait until January 2011 when I can dump it for a new phone. Who knows what will be new in cell tech by then.
After reading reviews of the EnV Touch I decided to downgrade from a smartphone to the Env Touch thinking that I could save money and still get a great phone. It was a huge mistake.
The EnV Touch is a great phone, don't get me wrong. But it's abilities are limited to making phone calls, messaging, and whatever apps are available to other phones like this.
It's tries to catch the middle ground between a lower end phone and a smartphone. I would recommend it for heavy texting.
