PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

Would the world be any poorer without the existence of the Canon PowerShot A590 IS? Since it offers little that's revolutionary, the answer is: 'very probably not'. However, it's cutely styled if overall a bit business-like, inoffensive in operation and to use a well-worn adage, the A590 IS 'does exactly what it says on the tin'. Also, for a model aimed at beginners, features are surprisingly comprehensive, its response times – save for that rather sluggish zoom – pretty good, and it's nice to see true optical image stabilisation included as standard on a camera that costs what it does.

The Imaging Resource‘s review Edit

Boasting improved Face Detection and Motion Detection technology, the Canon PowerShot A590 IS aims to outperform in the area of portraiture, capturing better exposed and better focused faces, whether they're in motion or standing still. The PowerShot A590 IS is small and compact, and similar in style and overall design to other members of the PowerShot "A" series, with a darker, graphite body that stands out among the silver digital camera crowd.

Steve's Digicams‘s review Edit

Much like the A570 IS, the Canon PowerShot A590 IS is an excellent compact digital camera. With an 8-megapixel imaging sensor, 4x optical image stabilized zoom lens and shooting modes that include auto, manual and everything in between, this is a camera that anyone will be able to use and enjoy.
