Samsung Instinct s30 Pro Reviews

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

Samsung's Instinct is still a far cry from the iPhone, even with the latest refresh. But it's loaded with features and brings some of the same, simplified touch-interface magic to Sprint subscribers.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

The thing to keep in mind here is that the Instinct S30 isn’t meant to change much. It’s a feature phone that’s meant to introduce users to the capabilities of the mobile web and GPS, etc. The price point of the Instinct ($129.99 w/ contract) is meant to be a lower level entry into the world of touchscreens, and a phone with smartphone-like capabilities for users who don’t need smartphones such as the Palm Pre.

The Samsung Instinct S30 has its good points, but Samsung and Sprint missed the opportunity to make a better device.

Phone Scoop‘s review Edit

Samsung takes another stab at the basic Instinct. The S30 is an all-around better phone than its predecessor, but it's still far from perfect.

MobileBurn‘s review Edit

We honestly expected more from the follow-up to the original Samsung Instinct. The fact that the Instinct S30 gets downgraded 3G data speeds and still has the same ultra basic 2 megapixel camera is a real disappointment. But with that said, the new body design is worlds better than the original in both hand feel and style. It is the integrated services that really make the device shine.

PC World‘s review Edit

Phone fans had been hoping that Sprint's next-gen version of the Samsung Instinct smartphone would drop weight and beef up on specs. Then, at CTIA 2009, the Instinct S30 ($130 after rebates, with a two-year contract) premiered. Let's just say that the new version underwhelms. The S30 still lacks Wi-Fi; and even worse, it has downgraded EvDO support. And while the built-in camera takes decent photos, it is still missing a flash and photo editing software.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

Last summer Sprint took arguably the best shot at the iPhone at the time, and the Samsung Instinct stood toe-to-toe with its fruity rival. Customers no doubt stayed with Sprint because of it, but we doubt too many AT&T customers defected for an Instinct. Now we have the Samsung Instinct s30, which offers a refreshing design update and promises deeper access for developers. Will this new Instinct prove a compelling upgrade or more of the same?
