Olympus Stylus-9000 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

With disappointing quality and few saving graces, this is a camera to avoid.

There's no denying the Olympus Mju 9000 is very easy to use. It's a perfect option for those who want a simple point-and-click device with added reliability and rugged build. Those who are concerned about image quality may be disappointed by the lack of colour saturation and the soft details and, although it has video capture features, the VGA format looks a little lacklustre compared to competing models capable of capturing HD. For those who don't have any image editing knowledge, the in-camera fixes are a handy addition.

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

The Olympus Stylus-9000 finds itself in a category of camera just below the ultrazoom, but has just enough focal power to get itself out of the standard 3x zone. It aims to provide a broad spectrum of zoom range and 12 megapixels of high-resolution. The 12 megapixel club seems to the sweet spot where noise is filtered out because of larger pixel sites on DSLRs, but this mentality doesn't transfer well to the image sensor that is less than an inch on most point-and-shoots, including the Stylus-9000.

What began as an impressive display of features and build quality slowly soured as I used the camera more and more. If this camera can be kept in normal balanced daylight that's bright enough to use a low ISO then the results will be acceptable.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The Olympus offers a good zoom and some nice features, however we weren't overly impressed with the image quality or the button layout on the rear of the camera. Images seemed flat when reproduced, and although our test day was on the overcast side in terms of weather, even the bit of sun we did get didn't lift our spirits or image colour that much.

LetsGoDigital‘s review Edit

Olympus throws in the Mju 9000 to try and seize the much-desired title of most popular Megazoom camera. This segment has been in the limelight for the last few years now, not in the last place because of the innovative advancements that Panasonic has achieved in this segment.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

The Olympus Mju 9000 is a sensibly designed and well made camera with a very useful zoom range. It is easy to use, performs well and produces good results in most situations. However the lack of some important features such as an AF assist lamp or any colour adjustments limit its appeal somewhat, especially considering the relatively high price.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

It's hard not to like the Olympus mju 9000. This is a well-made, easy to use point-and-shoot that will suit everyone in the family. The wide-angle 10x zoom is a real attraction in such a small camera, and should cover all eventualities for most of its target audience.
