This compact camera is easy to operate and looks very stylish considering it's built like a tank. With plenty of helpful scene modes to help you achieve pleasing shots whilst you're on the move, it's a good option for taking on an adventure holiday. There's not been much in the way of development since the TOUGH-6000, though.

Although not the lightest of compact cameras, the Olympus mju Tough 6010 easily earns its place in your limited luggage allowance if you're about to embark on an adventurous trip. It isn't without its shortcomings on the manual control front, but it produces detailed, colourful images in a wide range of lighting and comfort conditions.

Olympus Mju Tough 6010 takes great pictures. The quality of images is truly impressive. More seriously, advanced snappers will be put off by the lack of creative control. This is a true point-and-shoot camera with very few features to pull in serious users. But the fact that the Tough 6010 is waterproof is a huge bonus. There's also no doubting the effort Olympus has put in to making the Tough well-built: this is a superb choice if you find yourself in inhospitable places, or simply have a track record of destroying compacts.

Overall the Olympus Mju Tough-6010 is a solid performer. Build quality is generally very good, save for the lens cover, which is a potential weakness. We were encouraged, however, that even once that part was "broken" the camera soldiered on without a problem.

In its favour the Tough 6010 is one of the better looking options out there when compared to Canon's similarly featured, all singing all dancing D10 - even if for us the Canon takes marginally better pictures - but expensive compared to Pentax WS80 if all you want is waterproofing

If you're looking for a camera you can just throw in a bag whenever you're heading outdoors, but which also won't look out of place at a party, the mju Tough-6010 is ideal. It's easy to use, robust enough to take the knocks, has reasonable performance and decent picture quality. Its only real weaknesses are poor low light focusing and an underpowered flash.
