Samsung Alias 2 Pro Reviews

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

Samsung's Alias 2 SCH-u750 texting phone is the first to use e-ink (the same technology used in the Amazon Kindle) to create a "magic" keyboard that automatically changes depending on what you're doing. This is a huge breakthrough: It's more usable than a touch keypad and more flexible than a fixed physical keyboard. If only Verizon's texting, e-mail and Web-browsing software were better, this would be a terrific Internet phone.

We were very pleased with the Samsung Alias 2, and certainly consider it to be a worthy upgrade from the original. The E-Ink technology drastically improves the typing experience on the device thanks to the lack of clutter, and the increased key size makes it much easier to type messages. Though it may have slight reception issues in rural areas, the phone is a worthy alternative to the other text-centric devices in Verizon Wireless' lineup such as the LG enV2 and the Voyager.

mobiledia‘s review Edit

The Alias 2 is not a phone for someone looking to upgrade from one phone to a similar phone with similar functions. It's too different for that. Instead, the Alias 2 is better geared toward a person willing to take a chance on a new technology and risk fumbling with the phone at first with the possible bonus of finding a technology that makes life easier once the person masters the new system.

The Samsung Alias 2 is a dual-hinge messaging phone that doesn't look all that remarkable at first glance, but Jen Edwards was very impressed with its E-Ink keyboard that changes to suit the user's needs.

Samsung brings e-ink to the Alias 2 messaging phone. This tricked-out keyboard does a lot, but did they pay enough attention to other features?

PC World‘s review Edit

Thanks to the dual-hinge flip design of the Alias 2, you can open the phone vertically and horizontally. The handset is bigger than the average flip phone, yet it maintains sleekness, measuring 2.0 by 4.0 by 0.7 inches and weighing a light 4.3 ounces. Despite its size, I found it comfortable to hold up to my ear for long conversations. The front screen is 1.3 inches and 128 by 128 pixels, and located below it are three dedicated music buttons for cycling through songs. The inside screen is a nice, big 2.6 inches and 320 by 240 pixels.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

Samsung has reworked the design of the original Alias and has come out with the Samsung Alias 2 U750. Most of our original gripes have been addressed, as the keyboard uses E-ink technology with larger buttons, the display is now QVGA, and the camera is 2MP. But with the enV3 due out any time now, how...
