Canon PowerShot SD790 IS Pro Reviews

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

The images produced by the Canon PowerShot SD790 IS are generally quite good. Still, I ended up with fewer keepers than normal due to focus issues and noise concerns with the SD790's familiar 10 megapixel sensor.

Photography Review‘s review Edit

The Canon PowerShot SD790 IS is a good-looking, compact point-and-shoot camera capable of capturing quality images. Unfortunately, the frustrating Control Dial spoiled it for me. If you like the design, features and image quality of the SD790 IS, take a look at Canon’s other PowerShot SD cameras. They’ve proven themselves over the years with simple usability and excellent image quality compared to other point-and-shoots. But the poor Control Dial on the SD790 IS makes what might otherwise have been a nice little camera an exercise in frustration.

A sleek, speedy, easy-to-use camera whose strengths more than make up for its hefty price tag.

LetsGoDigital‘s review Edit

Despite my comments on the limited zoom range the Canon Digital IXUS 90 IS is an excellent camera with a remarkable neat and trendy design. The way the buttons are completely flush with the casing is absolutely beautiful and deserves a beauty award. Add the large 3 inch screen to it and you can say that Canon have a new winner in their hands.

infoSync World‘s review Edit

The Canon SD790 IS is a typical 10-megapixel compact in an innovative body. The feature-set is workable and includes optical image-stabilization, though the panorama assist is lacking, and we would have liked to see more additions like manual control and different flash modes. Thankfully the interface is greatly boosted by a wheel controller, a mode toggle and cool inlaid buttons. Image quality is decent for this price range - we've seen better and worse - though noise management is exceptional.

Steve's Digicams‘s review Edit

The 10-megapixel PowerShot SD790 IS is one of several Digital ELPH models from Canon for 2008. It offers users powerful high-end features in a compact design. The camera's 3x zoom has a focusing range from a wide-angle equivalent of 35mm to a maximum telephoto equivalent of 105mm and features Canon's legendary Optical Image Stabilization technology. Like the PowerShot SD890 IS Digital ELPH camera, the SD790 IS Digital ELPH camera features the quick and easy-to-use multi-control dial.
